The Eurovision Song Contest Thread

Recommended Posts

Seems like this year there's a lot scandal after the contest ending. I dont think the two songs are alike but I think that they didi on purpose to release this supiscious only after the Final ended because they already knew that denmark was almost certain win. I think last year euphoria it was also acused of plagiarism.

Did you also heard that right after the Final, denmark set some trucks with advertisements indicating the way for the ESC2014.Some people are saying that they might already knew they were going to win...

I remember when Spain won the UEFA Euro 2012 (If I'm not mistaken) and had two commercials: One in which they assume they lost and one in which they assumed they've won. Probably it's just having assets, though I don't know very much about the controversy.

I've never heard about that and I am portuguese. Are you Spanish by any chance?

I guess that's just a marketing option that some coutries do. I also dont know musch about the controversy but If it was only a thing that they had prepared in case they win, I guess they were lucky that went well.

As much as I didn't want Denmark to win, the plagiarism allegations are a bit too far-fetched for me. It's lame because the song is so basic and such a typical Eurovision sound with catchy lyrics ... It's so BORING. Not that I wanted to see the other favourite Norway to win, because I just can not like anything about that song it's a mess imo. Poor Romania, they deserved much better. ]:

You guys read the whole controversy with Azerbaijan and the whole buying votes thing? The story continues...

http://12points.tv/esc/item/1964-azerbaijan-votes-for-cash-video-men-selling-votes-identified?

There was also a statement that said it was the Russians buying votes by one of the "journalists"

http://12points.tv/esc/item/1956-azerbaijan-vote-fixing-the-undercover-journalist-speaks

Yet Azerbaijan is still under suspicion of buying votes

All of this is vague for me.

Controversies everywhere and it just happens to be surrounded by the first and second winners...

2. If the renter is from Ukraine, does this have any ties with Euromedia Company, the Kiev-based agency representing the Azerbaijani Eurovision act? Aside from looking after Farid Mammadov from Azerbaijan at Eurovision, their other clients also include the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Azerbaijan. Previous and current clients also include Azerbaijan's 2011 Eurovision winners Eli & Nikki, ESC 2004 Ukranian winner Ruslana, and Safura, who represented Azerbaijan at ESC 2010.

I was about to say "I feel sorry for the artists (I mean, every participant)" but then this. If they are really culprit, I hope they say a word. In the first place because I don't think they are 100% guilty unless something is revealed.

No, it's not throwing shade, but I really don't know what to say. It's a pity that I've been following the contest for eleven years and then this happens. I want the music, but I also want some honesty. I thank the journalists for investigating.

That's nice! We are so close to each other!

I was actually curious about what people from Spain think about their song. I only heard it in the Final but I thought that the singer seems a little off tune... That's why I think that your country didnt end up with a good score..

What do you think about it?

Not a good opinion, but it happens every year since most people think Spain is a flop in the ESC. Even with Pastora Soler and a 10th place people were not satisfied...

And I agree, ESDM was kind of out of tune in the final performance.

Next year, we want these bands to go there:

Btw, Senhora do mar was AWESOME

I think that we know that our chances to win are very few as we dont have a lot of neighbours, but either way last year the 10th with Pastora was not that bad. Her song was really good and get to stay in the top10 is really good :)  Here in portugal I already dont know what to think as most of people dont take seriously the festival and then they get upset when we send someting like Homens da Luta to represent us... Hopefully next year we will be there again with a  better song.

From those two I really like the second one, It has a really nice tune and seems that could give a good and cheerful performance.

I think Senhora do Mar and Todas as Ruas do Amor were our best songs. Hope we can do someting like that again :)

One of my favourites from Spain was Algo Pequenito, I was obssessed with that song at the time, its really good

"Not taking the festival seriously"... We also have that problem D:

Oh, Mägo de Oz has some classic songs and they are great <3 Mojinos Escozíos are talented, but funny as hell xDD I wanna go to one of their concerts.

Moonspell can be a good Portuguese representative :o

And about "Algo Pequeñito", that Jimmy Jump guy spoiled the performance. Ugggh ><

I actually never heard many portuguese music, but usually the ones picked out for the esc arent very known.

I think that Daniel Diges was actually a little lucky to have to repeat the performance that year, perhaps made the people vote for him more has he was one of the first permorfing. But I think it was barely noticed as it was in such few seconds..

YASSS IT'S BACK! The UK entry this year better not embarrass us like usual. They always send the worst of the fucking worst. Absolutely awful.. The only decent one in recent years was Blue.. But even that was fucking boring, then they sent some old ass man called Humpledink or something.

Man germany messed up yesterdays selection sooo bad  :omg:  :omg:

The one who won first in the final simply declined his ticket and gave it up to the second place  :derp:

*cough cough* attention whore *cough cough*

WHY would he participate in the selection if he never intended to go anyway...publicity publicity publicity...I'm happy he's not going, after seeing him online, he looks like an arrogant douche

So this my country's contribution this year...what's yours?

Fun fact; this song was written by Anouk, who in 2013 FINALLY brought The Netherlands back in the Top 10 for the first time in more than a decade
