The Eurovision Song Contest Thread

Recommended Posts

Yeah the song is pretty forgettable sadly ..but who knows sometimes songs like this one do well depending on what the competition presents.

Germany being currently very unpopular in europe won't help her though

Hopefully she doesn't get the same treatment the Russian twins got that one year. Mess.

Oh yeah the crowd was soo horrible to the twins :/ hope this doesn't happen to her she is a sweet young girl and I think only 17

Yeah she's young. I think the twins were only teens still as well. Don't direct outside issues at people that just wanna sing  :unimpressed:

Anyways have you heard any other entries yet? About 2/3 are out already ~

I'll watch them sometime soon ..anything crazy, funny this year?

There's a fair share of cringe lmao (the Bosnia song has some guy rapping for like 4 lines out of nowhere #kpoprealness). I'm still waiting on something truly crazy.

Just when I was about to having any hopes for this 2016's festival.... I honestly think this song should be in the finals. Thank you!

ps. Aminata (Latvia 2015) penned the song!

Yessss I know she did! Aminata was one of my faves last year so no wonder I like this song.

The more I listen the more I really like it. If it's not in the finals I will kick up a fuss.

what is this shit, no one good is going to eurovision coz here its like..... ONLY SHITTY singers go, and yeah...

shitty singers go, shitty singers get chosen and they go to represent our country and then WE COMPLAIN.

And its always like that god damnit. the only good our performance was in 2006 when we sent guys who were

making fun of eurovision. Tho i hope Donny Montell gonna get chosen, coz he is the only one not super boring and doesnt make me embarrassed while listening.Smh.. at least i hope our brother Latvia gonna get some points

Is he the winner?

Also, Kallay Saunders from Hungary was one of the finalists but he didn't win... sadly :(

Didn't listen to his song but I know it is a bop

Your own country is Ukraine, right? I am antici[pating

This year I will use another phone to vote, in case, my own phone won't let me vote like last year

No he was just singing there I think. He took a photo with a winner (can't link rn, on phone). Just wanted to share his rendition of RLAP 😘

Does anyone understand the new voting system cos I literally cannot understand a word of it

New voting system

The EBU announced on 18 February 2016 that a new voting system would be implemented at the contest for the first time since 1975. The new system, inspired by the voting system of Melodifestivalen, involves each country now awarding two sets of points from 1-8, 10 and 12: one from their professional jury and the other from televoting. After viewers have cast their votes, the results of each professional jury will be presented, with countries receiving 1-8 and 10 points being displayed on-screen instead of 1-7, which had been the case since 2006, and the national spokesperson only announcing the country receiving 12 points. After the results of the professional juries are presented, the televoting points from all participating countries will be combined, providing one score from each song. These results will then be announced by the host, starting with the country receiving the fewest points from the public and ending with the country receiving the highest number of points. The new voting system will also be used to determine the qualifiers from each semi-final, but as before the qualifiers will be announced in a random order.[23]

I think I understood it.

As before, they will connect to the representative of each country and will receive the distribution of points of the jury of the country, only this time they will just say who got 10 and 12 (to make it a bit quicker).

After that, they will make another round for each contestant and add up the points of the televoting, not the jury, starting from the country who received less votes.

In previous system, each representative gave the combined votes of jury and televoting of it's country, so this time, jury and televoting will be separated.

New system will create an intrigue, and we will know the winner only at the end of the whole process, theoretically.

Oooh I see.

I suppose they are doing this just to create suspense.

That's it, I'm definitely cheering for Russia this year.

Unfortunately, I can't vote since I'm from the States.

Ahhhh. Is there many Eurovision fans you know in the States?

sad there is no hype this year in this thread

last year we were on full power even before it started.

I still haven't listened to all the songs and I've only read comments

It'll pick up in a few days  :ohbi: I'll go recruit some people soon

Aww nah it will be nice this year too :) and there is always time for a betting thread but we better have them after the semis because I had no chance to listen to anything yet xD

I'll make it after the 2nd semi final if that works?
