Article: Jihyo, "People who seem like attention seekers are mumbling about it... I was just sick" controversial clarification

Source: Star News via Nate

"People who seem like attention seekers keep mumbling('웅앵웅') about it so I'm telling you, I was just feeling sick. I'm sorry. I'm sure you were having fun because you had something to attack me with. Too bad I couldn't do anything about feeling sick."

'웅앵웅' is a type of slang that stands for mumbling/muttering, not being coherent, usually used in arguments in a mocking manner.

1. [+3,551, -412] There's nothing wrong with '웅앵웅' itself but I do think it kind of ruins it for me when a celebrity I like uses it

2. [+3,475, -404] She has quite the temper ㅋㅋ

3. [+2,270, -254] Try to think of this by changing the genders. Imagine if BTS said something like "can the attention seekers please stop stomping around" ('쿵쾅' means to stomp around, usually used by anti-feminists to signify that 'fat jealous women' are stomping into the comments).

4. [+543, -63] Is it normal to call your fan an attention seeker? and accuse them of muttering?

5. [+536, -38] Judging by the article, it doesn't sound like a clarification, more like she was mocking people. She brought this upon yourself. Why is she doing this? Twice's image is already good without this stuff.

6. [+535, -51] ㅋㅋㅋ Just listen to that arrogance

7. [+488, -28] This ruins my image of her. Seems like she's made all the money she needs and is checked out.

8. [+423, -50] What's so wrong with people being curious about why she wasn't on stage??? Her reaction is so low class.. does she think she's above us all because she's a celebrity?? Twice seems super sensitive, and have a lot of scandals too... (yes, I agree that their stalker issue is in need of harsh punishment!!) It really puts into perspective how the previous generation idols were more professional...

9. [+360, -25] She should just express her hate instead of being pathetic by mocking them like this

10. [+329, -46] Isn't 웅앵웅 used by the Womad community?

11. [+278, -48] Yes, you do realize that 웅앵웅 is used by Megalia and Womad communities to put down men and soldiers, right? ^^ It's the same context as if a male celebrity used an Ilbe word.

12. [+252, -18] '웅앵웅' is not good for her image. It's a word that is most often connected with feminist communities... This clarification won't be good for her image this time.

13. [+230, -23] To those of you who don't understand the context of '웅앵웅', just imagine if a BTS member had used an Ilbe word

1. [+5,532, -1,218] Her manner of speech is ruining it for me

2. [+3,590, -339] All of Twice seems under a lot of stress. I'm not a fan but I can feel it.

3. [+3,395, -1,188] To all of you shielding her, I guess you're going to say it's okay if a male celebrity said something like "attention seekers are stomping in" ㅋㅋ?

4. [+2,342, -549] I have to admit I was surprised to hear Jihyo use a phrase like that ㅋㅋ

5. [+2,621, -969] Seems like celebrities these days are completely blocking out anything they don't want to hear and are only trying to hear the good. They treat even the slightest criticism as a hate comment and threaten lawsuits ㅋ

6. [+1,213, -445] You can read a lot about her character from just her short words...

7. [+874, -161] '웅앵웅' is used to put down men?? Since when? I've never heard of that

8. [+1,008, -353] It's already disrespectful that she used the word 'attention seeker' but I've never seen an idol mock her fans for that ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I never liked her to begin with but the way she talks and acts just makes me hate her ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

9. [+788, -157] First time hearing that '웅앵웅' is used to put down men. I think people are overexaggerating this. Imagine how stressed she must be to be so open about it like this..

10. [+588, -93] Aren't people exaggerating the '웅앵웅'? I never knew it was used like that;

1. [+784, -61] Wow...... no matter how mad she is, how could she use such a low class word..

2. [+730, -42] What's more shocking is that she said this in a chat room that fans have to pay to be in

3. [+643, -51] I find it funny whenever people say that JYP kids have good character. From drunk driving scandals to Park Jin Young's plagiarism controversies...

4. [+113, -5] I never saw her as classy but this just makes me view her as low class. Did she think she would sound cool if she said it? I understand that it's tough to have a job that's reliant on the public's popularity but she could've expressed herself better. Please learn to embrace the world with a warmer heart.

5. [+102, -4] I get the feeling that Twice is on its last lifeline...

6. [+98, -5] Basically means that she views her fans as fools ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ she's made her money, she's done now ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

7. [+92, -3] Her character will prevent her from becoming any bigger

8. [+79, -1] Even if '웅앵웅' is not problematic, I do have to question if it was necessary for her to express herself like that

9. [+75, -7] Makes me realize how textbook idol Yunho and Changmin are. Yunho drank a poisoned drink by an anti fan and was still positive through it all... Yunho truly is the god of idols.

10. [+67, -3] She's lost her roots

-

1. [+6,054, -1,746] First time seeing a girl group member use words like this to a worried fan wondering about why she wasn't on stage. And on a chatting app that fans have to pay for to be in, no less... why is she treating them like attention seekers?

2. [+3,909, -938] I never imagined she would ever say something like this.. I got goosebumps the moment I read it..

3. [+3,669, -907] If a male idol accused a fan of 'stomping around', would you call it a misunderstanding too? You wouldn't...

4. [+3,193, -736] Fine, I can give a pass on '웅애웅'... but calling your own fan an attention seeker? By someone who calls themselves the leader?

5. [+967, -484] She's just going till the end, isn't she? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It gives me goosebumps that an idol said something like this. This is historical. Has there ever been an idol, no, a celebrity, who has said something like this?

6. [+812, -355] It's obvious she didn't say it to a fan but a fan who was just being hateful and attention seeking in the comments ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ You guys already killed someone with your hate comments, don't repeat the cycle

7. [+712, -279] Jihyo said that to the hate commenters who were in Twice's chatroom and making up rumors and hate comments

8. [+788, -415] Why should she be expected to speak nicely to an attention seeker? It's not like she swore or anything. You grandpas are being so tacky ㅋㅋㅋ And '웅앵웅' originated from Twitter and is used like a popular slang these days. Too bad you're all too big of a loser to know that, tsk ㅜ can't blame anyone but yourselves.

I get that Twice are stressed these days and she was probably directing that towards the rude people... but if an actual fan out of worry was simply asking that I think her sharp response wasn't warranted.

Who needs antis when you have fucked up "fans" that will spread a false narrative?

Note that the public wouldnt even have known of jihyo's harmless comments if it wasn't for "fans" spreading the screenshots from an exclusive chatroom

the main k-once that spread this is this girl thats a sahyo shipper LOL its clear that she was never okay with jihyo dating and this was her breaking point

there were trolls and antis in the chat yesterday hence why jihyo talked about this... i dont see how its so hard for people to see she isn't talking about fans at all

Vlive+ is a paid service for fans to get exclusive content.

I don’t really see the problem with what she said but it couldn’t have been trolls or haters in the chat unless they’re so dedicated to trolling they paid to do it :derp:

the troll comments were made on the regular twice vlive chat

hence why jihyo decided to go onto vlive+... she was simply confiding to her fans about how attention seekers were reading too much into what happened that night at mama. Then some k-onces ran with it saying she was attacking them

That would be the first place dedicated antis would go because they know they would get the most content to use there since idols get comfortable. Trust me, a few dollars a month is nothing for the satisfaction they get when they "catch" an idol with sth.

jihyo is right, ppl are being mad annoying and speculative about everything twice does,  to the point a lot of the "concern" is obviously fake. it seems like recently twice has had enough of the bullshit and are coming for necks.

Jihyo did nothing wrong, those haters and fake fans can shut their mouths and go step on lego.😒

I swear Knetz think idols (especially female idols) should just absorb all the poisonous hate until death.🤕

Are idols even considered human to them?🤔

Fucking crazy

This huge for saying a slang? Changing your view on celebrity? WTF is all celebrity in South Korea Jesus incarnated?

Seungri, JJY. That's the type of person that changing your view  on celebrity, not someone who's using a slang while trying to explain why she's on the backstage most of the time on some award show

I don't follow Twice and i don't know what they accused her with, but if it was something bad then it's her right to get mad. I doubt anyone is seriously disappointed at her except certain fandom that want to fulfill their hate agenda.
