A rocket strike on a convoy of vehicles killed a senior officials of an Iraniana paramilitary militia and along with some Iranian officials Friday morning, leading to the closure of the Baghdad airport.  U.S. military helicopters were scrambled followding the rocket strike that hit the convoy on the perimeter of the airport, and sources told International Business Times that General Qasem Soleimani, the leader of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, was among those killed.

The source, who is with the Iraqi security forces and wished to remain anonymous, said the rockets detonated simultaneously and appeared to target a convoy of vehicles that were outside of a facility that housed American and Iraqi counter-terrorism forces. He said Mohammed Redha Al-Jabri, a senior Popular Mobilization Force official, was killed along with his associates.

Two senior Iraqi militia officials and the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Quds Force has been killed in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in what appeared to be the latest escalation following a week of unrest and bloodshed across the country.

Mohammed Redha al-Jabri, head of protocol of Iraq's state-sponsored Popular Mobilization Forces, was killed Thursday "along with three guests accompanying him," the Popular Mobilization Forces, also known as Al-Hashed Al-Shaabi, told Newsweek.

Trump really gonna start a war with Iran to help him be re-elected.

It would be incorrect, at least at this juncture, to claim that the US Miltiary killed him. There's no proof of that, and certainly not of operational control from Washington, unless Trump is planning to go to war. Until then, a group of militants just happened to get their hands on RPGs, and just happened to have been furnished the intelligence by unknown benefactors on a senior general of the IRF. The Iranians aren't going to press that unless Trump admits it openly, because despite their bluster, they don't want to go to war the US. The Russians and the Chinese aren't going to want to start WWIII over some dead Iranian general. Even though we all know what this is, welcome to international politics.

We're about to see a lot of shit go down, but it'll be passive aggressive and no one will claim responsibility.

Unless, of course, Trump is planning to go to war.

I haven't heard the bit about the drone strike, in all seriousness.

Confirmed in statement from the Pentagon... Other US Senators also saying it was approved by the President.
