why do kpop stans think calling their favs flops is bullying when their favs rlly are flops?

yes, your favs have had comebacks that are "total failures". they have failed to chart on melon, they have failed to win a music show against other relevant acts, they have failed to sell more than their previous album despite all of the version and photocards. kpop stans treat flop like a derogatory term when it is 9/10 a factual statement. we call groups, even our favs, nugus all the time without any malice. are nugu and flop not in a similar vein? an unknown group likely isn't doing well. having less than 100k album sales is not enough to pay everyone's bills.

it’s not a nice word

edit: this is such a weird thread.. I can’t tell if this is a troll thread or not lol. OP, you must have a lot of spare time. Who would like other people calling someone that they like, essentially a “total failure?” Even if it’s true to your standards that someone is a flop, some things you just don’t have to say out loud. There’s a time and place to say certain things so don’t act surprised when someone responds badly to a rude thing that you say.

Because many times (if not most) it's not the reality. Of course it's nothing serious because numbers can talk themselves, but when one view another for their achievements, "flopping" is a big insult.

What is "flop" anyway? Inability to sell 100k in a month per album? Inability to chart in top 5 during first week? It's used as a very vague and subjective term. One would be "flop" if the result is way lower than usual/previous release/expectation.

who hurt you? why would you even go and call a group (you probably don't even like) a flop? most people don't like their favs being called a flop because you guys actually use that word to put down that group not just because "you want to write a factual statement" """"without any malice"""", let's be real.

exactly lol like what's this thread. OP wants to freely bash other groups by calling them a flop, that's what I got from it

Honestly to me, it seemed like either a poor attempt at trolling or the OP lost an argument where they called someone else’s faves a flop and tried to seek validation by making this thread.

Because it's always used in an insulting and demeaning way, even if it's a "factual statement".

Not to mention that it's become ridiculous how people use it literally for everything that's not #1 with 12717363 PAKs and 1M of album sales.
