Lots of cheap trendy clothes, or a handful of quality clothes?

Ever since I’ve started collecting designer clothing I will never go back. The fit is so much better and the pieces lasts a lot longer. I also feel a lot more confident wearing stuff that actually fits me nice. Watch out for the fabrics used though; sometimes expensive stuff will still be cheap af fabric. Also, there’s a reason fast fashion is so cheap... and it’s at the cost of those who make it. If you can afford not to go to those stores, I’d urge you not to.

what designers do you shop?

I like French brands so maje, Sandro and Claudie Pierlot. These three will usually be on the same floor in department stores as well, they're all very similar sort of feminine rock french streetstyle (Claudie Pierlot being the most girly one of the three). I check those out and also look at other mid-level brands for other pieces sometimes, but usually I know there's something to find amongst these. I only ever shop during sales periods or at outlet stores (the profit margin on clothing is huge - companies make bank even when sales are on, so keep that in mind). I also ask myself two questions before buying anything: 1) would I want to wear this piece out right after buying it? 2) do I have stuff in my closet to create an outfit with this piece? Prevents me from buying things I won't ever wear; like this plissé mid-length skirt I love but feel way too awkward wearing....

If I could recommend some other mid-tier brands it's A.P.C. + CVRD (basic items with good fit and good material, can last you for years) and Ganni (lovely skirts and dresses, very flowy and light). I could try and think of some others but honestly just go into a department store and look for the floor where these are located; same-level cost brands are usually next to each other. Ba&SH is another nice one as well. AllSaints for their coats; though they're a bit more expensive. You just have to find some brands that suit your taste I guess!
