satoori 45,814
If I only couldΒ pick two albums to represent BTS this decade, I agree with Wings and Forever Young being on this list. Β Wings is am artistic masterpiece. It's luxurious andΒ aesthetic. BTS hasn't done a comeback so grand since then. It was the perfect album to followΒ HYYH era and launch their careers to great heights. Made them officially top artists. More importantly it showcases each members unique identity. Iconic.Β Legends.Β Forever Young , the epilogue of HYYH era. Such a beautiful and meaningfulΒ era.Β TheyΒ took a huge risk. Change their image, concept andΒ direction. During the era they established a strong fandom, gain recognition in Korea and begin to chart even moreΒ internationally. Young Forever takes everything about that era, plusΒ more, and complies it into a perfect compilation album.Β Β Spoiler Β Billboard summary: 20. BTS,Β WingsΒ (2016)Β WithΒ Wings, the 2016 follow-up to BTSβ spectacular breakthroughΒ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, the group channeled their ambitions for global domination, proving that they could remain true to their hip-hop roots while exploring new soundscapes. With distinctive solos like rapper RMβs atmospheric βReflectionβ and the chopped-up orchestral drama of Jiminβs βLie,β the album stretches K-popβs ensemble palette to its limits. Then thereβs the baroque moombahton of βBlood, Sweat & Tearsβ and triumphant trap of βBTS Cypher 4" --Β a manifesto of radical self-love that, in retrospect, feels like the opening salvo of a full-on takeover. 3. BTS,Β The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young ForeverΒ (2016) Before their world takeover officially took off, BTS proved their true promise to the world with the one-two punch ofΒ The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1Β andΒ 2, where they infused their hip-hop styling with a gorgeous dose of pop magic. The guys finished off the remarkable era with a compilation LP titledΒ Young ForeverΒ that acted as a victory lap, showing they had just a few more tricks up their sleeves as they wrapped up a near-perfect era. Pts. 1Β andΒ 2Β featured landmark songs in BTS' career,Β like breakout single "I Need U," the international anthem "Dope," a promise to breaking the status quo with "Silver Spoon (Baepsae)" and tracks that showed their brilliance with lyrical metaphors in "Whalien 52." NewΒ Young ForeverΒ songs "Fire" and "Save Me" cemented the band as multifaceted hitmakers, thanks to their respective displays of hard-hitting EDM/hip-hop and sentimental dance-pop. But more than the range of genres,Β Young ForeverΒ solidified and proved the importance of messaging in your music -- with those messages only growing stronger in BTS' further releases.Β The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2Β was BTS' first album toΒ enter the Billboard 200, whileΒ Young ForeverΒ lead single "Fire" was their first No. 1 onΒ World Digital Song Sales. BTS truly cracked the formula for a larger, more meaningful support from listeners, and the end of this era indicated that only larger things were on the way. --Β J.B.Β Β Β Edited December 18, 2019 by satoori

rananicolee 10,264
I highly recommend anyone listen to GD's Kwon Ji Yong album. It's his most personal album to date. Iljin Oppa 1,343
Agreed that HYYH is one of the most beautifullyΒ cohesive Kpop albums ever. It perfectly captures the experiences of youth, both the turmoils and the joys. Personally though, I have to say I enjoyed Wings more. Also agree on the Perfect Velvet but how could they not include The Red?!?! Itβs literally Kpopβs magnum opus, the perfect blend between Rnb, pop and soul.Β
Moon Jellyfish 23,232
Top 5 isΒ quite solid. Glad to see JJ Project, Day6 and Twice among the list. Though I would've loved to see a 2pm or GOT7 album on there, overall not a bad list.Β Β Edit: Wait are my eyes deceiving me or is there no SNSD on this list? godblessdelulu 2,919
Modern time is timeless y'all, a refreshing take that shows just how diverse IU approach music.
