Instead of gifts, Kang Daniel's fans did donations relay for his birthday. In the past 3 years they've donated over half a million dollars

Kang Daniel doesn't accept fan gifts so fans have concentrated their efforts into donations instead. Just following Daniel's wishes. #PositivesMakesPositives

Last year Daniel held a free coffee event, donated, shared a video he edited on Filmora in between schedules, and held a Q&A.

This year he probably planned for his bday too but that was taken away 😢 I hope he knows that he's loved and is a positive influence to many

Konnect staff updated in his stead

I do not understand why does fans donate to charity when these famous idols earn alot..

I would rather donate in my own name if I want to donate to charity..

I'm so confused by your comment. Or it's you that is confused? The name in which the donation is being done is only symbolic, people don't really believe the artist made the donation. And these donations are usually done by gathering money from hundreds of fans so they have to put it in a common name. Like one of the tweets said, Daniel told fans to make the donation in their name, Danity, rather than his. Fans wanted to show they were inspired by him. We all say we want to help out by giving money to charity but how many of us do it right when the thought comes to us? In my experience, you need a motivation and an opportunity to donate. And Daniel's birthday provided both.

A lot of international fans donated as well. Hope someone records how much is donated from the international Danity. I am glad how the fandom culture comprises of not only petty competitions and brawl on internet, but also positive things like donation. I see more and more fandoms doing that, and I feel proud. Also, that glow-up in terms of donation from 2017 to 2019.. that is the kind of glow-up in a fandom I would like to see.
