34th Golden Disc Awards Announces Nominees

Nominees have been announced for the 34th Golden Disc Awards!

Songs and albums that were released between October 2018 through October 2019 were eligible to be nominated this year. Data regarding sales and usage on streaming sites until mid-December will be gathered from the Gaon Chart and reflected in the results.

Voting is only be available for the Popularity Award, which will be 100 percent determined by votes through the TikTok application until December 27. There is also a Chinese popularity award titled the NetEase Music Fans’ Choice K-pop Star Award, and voting will be available for Chinese fans through NetEase Music until December 27.

Starting from the 32nd Golden Disc Awards, online votes has not been a criteria that determines the winners of the main categories. Voting will only take place for the Popularity Award.

The 34th Golden Disc Awards will be held on January 4 and 5 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, with the first day for digital releases and the second day for physical album releases. The ceremony will be broadcasted live via JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4.

I love GDA and it was amazing last year 

Since mma and mama were surprisingly cheap this year,  GDA is my last hope!

I hope that BTS will attend both nights like last year and why not  have another  clean sweep!

Looking at some of the GDA stages last year......lol good luck~

I'm keeping my expectations low tho. BTS of course will put on a great show, but I feel they've probably spent a big sum of their award show budget on MAMA and MMA.

I really don't understand all the dragging for MAMA and MMA  but, i guess

at first look, I find strange that EXOs DMUMT was nominated last edition but Jennie's Solo is nominated this year although was released before DMUMT. If we look at the eligibility period ( Oct.2018 - Oct. 2019) EXO's 2018 album should have been nominated this edition. And because GDA changed again the eligibility period (the end of Oct instead of the end of Nov) , EXOs 2019 album isn't nominated at all.

Last edition the eligibility period was  December 2017 to 30 November 2018. This edition October 2018 - October 2019.  GDA messed up a bit the eligibility period, 2 months are overlapping.

 I hope Jennie will receive her well deserved digital award even if she doesn't attend, also Baekhyun an album bonsang, despite the attendance. GDA "music experts" better be fair.

It doesn't matter when the song is released (but within the eligible period) as long as the album or song is in the top 30, it would be nominated. 

Solo was not the top 30 by the end of 2018, so it is still eligible this year.

Exo was already nominated for DMUMT last year. I maybe wrong, but Love Shot isn't eligible because it doesn't have more than 6 new songs to be considered a single album.

Paul Kim has the most points, but that doesn't always guarantee a win. 2AM #14 and SNSD #43 have won with lower digital ranking. Jennie is a front runner, but BTS also have very good chance at winning.

I was confused why Kang Daniel wasn’t nominated in the Physical bonsang category, then I remembered you had to have at least 6 songs on the album for it to be eligible. Which is why Blackpink isn’t there either unfortunately.

I'm curious about the criteria they use. I wonder why Mino Fiancé isn't nominated. Also why CROSS but not WE for WINNER album nominations but I'm just glad they're nominated I guess.

I had the same thought about Mino when I first saw the nomination. According to the winner list last year, he won the hip hop genre. Although it doesn't say Fiance, I am assuming it won for that and therefore ineligible this year.

Edit: I have no idea about Winner, but I looked up the track listing for both albums. "We" have two hidden songs. Maybe GDA doesn't count hidden tracks, so having 4 main tracks make it ineligible.
