Germany fans spark FIFA racism probe after wearing black face paint and afro wigs for World Cup clash with Ghana

Fifa is investigating after photographs circulated of fans wearing black face makeup at Germany’s match against Ghana.

Photographs taken at the match showed two men, apparently Germany fans, with blackened faces in the Fortaleza stadium on Saturday.

Fifa said yesterday that its disciplinary committee is considering opening a case. It will also consider a report by the Fifa match commissioner, Eggert Magnusson of Iceland.

'We do not respect any discriminatory messages,' Fifa spokesperson Delia Fischer said.

 

‘We always take any evidence or submissions to our disciplinary committee. It is the disciplinary committee that will meet,’ a spokesman told The Guardian. 

‘If they see any grounds they will open proceedings. Then it is up to the disciplinary commission to take the decision.’

FIFA holds national football federations responsible for their fans’ behaviour inside stadiums.

i understand what you're trying to say but it's sort of naive to specifically call out germany for a practice that's been happening all over the world for at least two centuries. racism and ignorance exist everywhere in every country, it's just that in this specific situation the fans happened to be german.

not really... Hitler, WWII and the whole Nazi shabang has nothing to do with this nor with any intolerance that still exists in Germany.

 

also, I don't recall Hitler or the Nazis having much prejudice against Africans in general... I doubt these guys are neo-Nazis and their actions arent' representative or derive from Germany's history.

I know, but we are talking about Germans right now. Not too long ago I had a discussion with a few folks from German, and they were so adamant that there wasn't. Not saying all of Germany is racist or believe this, more like I just can't with the people who claim there isn't any racism there and of course, those idiots in the picture.
