Also having a hard time placing The Boyz. So possibly they're mainly here to pass the ROTY award to the next rookies only.

because it's lacking popular kpop groups with established fandoms international.

if we look at just the 3rd gen alone...there's only mamamoo and bts representing kpop groups. and mamamoo while they're known they're fandom isn't super huge internationally

adding a few more kpop groups would of made a huge difference. however the sales are just not there. plus their kfans are not voting hard enough for the popularity awards...

however - then why invite not one but two rookie boy groups?

plus last year gidle outsold the boyz digitally...and yet both were still awarded

ab61x and txt total physicals are at least higher too

but they do have a judge panel(?) which are always subjective and reveiw many areas which is why i said "at least"

Also I don't get that 'weak line-up' thing since BTS, Mamamoo, Chungha, Heize are one of the best performers in Korea, as well as Daniel and Itzy are the strongest rookies of the year with great stage presence. Nice to see Jannabi and NFlying in the line-up, it feels like this year MMA is more about music than about popularity.

i've noticed, many kpop fans don't always care about great performers and rookies(unless they're a hit)

people want to see what they like. which makes sense. it's why popular kpop groups are always invited to these different award shows, even if they're just going to receive special attendance awards. they have big fandoms.

however mma don't have a choice this year. many idol groups were below average digitally. and like you said music seem to be more important then just popularity this year

Twice, I'm not sure. Not only were their sales lower, K-Once didn't vote hard enough.

MMA isn't just attendance award. So if they deserve an award they will still get it.

I also saw someome said that somewhere melon said there'd be male and female winner idk source but its just weird. But based on line up sounds right

According to MMA wikipedia page 'Hot Trend Award' isn't a rookie award? So I'm confused...

TXT being the only one going home empty handed is hard for me to believe, ngl. Why invite them in the first place. MMA didn't give free invitations to other groups who would love the exposure and chance too.

Maybe bcz TXT from BH, you know That's just my guess. Also they can bring more buzz for the show which has weirdly "weak" line up this year.

Whether the boys go home with nothing or with a attendance award, personally I don't care that much.

What's matter to me is their chance to be on 1 of the biggest stages in Asian and get that rare experience as a rookie. I think that's really important to them

I don't think Bighit have more power then even Big 3 or even some mid tier companies who were big a few years ago.

Buzz? If MMA wanted more then invite other groups too. A rookie group like TXT isn't going to solve any buzz problems.

I'm also perfectly fine with TXT not winning anything. If that's the case it's still odd they were invited over other groups.

for example: if we take bts and chungha - looks like bts have charted higher the majority of the time and still higher. bts is performing better

 the rest of the weeks for chungha is probably not needed. most likely base on the trend it continues to fall
