Article: Hong Minji, "I almost became an SNSD member"... Taeyeon, "Never sweat an effort with us"

Source: Starin via Nate

1. [+1,573, -32] She's right, who does she think she is to even be saying that she was almost an SNSD member?

2. [+1,540, -27] Why do all former SM trainees claim that they would've been in SNSD? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ It's not like they trained with the actual debut group, they were just trainees ㅋㅋㅋ talk about delusional. Considering all the wanna be SNSD members in the world, just how many times do they think the debut group was dumped and remade over and over again? ㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+1,318, -22] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Refreshing of her to say that

4. [+155, -4] She's right! ㅋㅋㅋ Hong Minji claimed, "I cried when I saw SNSD debut because I was thinking 'that's where I belong.'" <- ridiculous ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+152, -9] It must be pretty frustrating considering there's a ton of people who have claimed to be an "almost member" already

6. [+150, -5] The only trainees who get the right to say they were "almost" SNSD members are Starlight Chanmi, who participated up to the recording of 'Into the New World', and T-ara's Soyeon

7. [+120, -1] Unless you're someone like T-ara's Soyeon who had debut group shots taken, you weren't almost a member. Just because you trained in SM doesn't mean you would've made it in the group.

8. [+85, -6] Talk about awkward for Hong Minji ㅋㅋ

9. [+76, -4] I think Taeyeon got pissed over Hong Minji claiming "that's where I belong"... know your place, please

10. [+76, -7] I'd be sick and tired too of all the people who have claimed to almost have been members from the past till now ㅋㅋㅋ

But isn't this a meme by now? Why Taeyeon hit out at this girl specifically?

I think it was because she said  "I cried when I saw SNSD debut because I was thinking 'that's where I belong."

I dont recall any of the other "i was almost in snsd" girls saying that so I believe that's why she finally said something

She snapped hard! I guess with the ambiguous state trainees are in, it's easy for them to exaggerate how close they were to being in a group.

The first "almost in SNSD" girl I remember was Fwaney (Lee Hwan-hee). Was she really involved or was she also just clout chasing?

She made it to the point where they were taking group photos right before the final roster was set. Her, Chanmi, and Soyeon were right at the cut off.

Just to remember, the only celebrity who are almost become the snsd member is Soyeon(t ara), Chanmi, stella amd another one is seohyun friend.

wait, so was this girl in the lineup at any point? i remember soyeon, stella, and seohyun's friend that eventually studied engineering... as well as a few others. but i dont remember their names lmao. i thought this girl was just a random trainee, so i thought it was cool of taeyeon to put her and all others like her that claimed they were "almost snsd" in their place. but if its true that she was included at the lineup at some point, and they trained together...then thats really cold of taeyeon to say, because im sure it was really really hard on the other trainees to be dropped from the lineup.

also, this is unrelated, but dont forget that my girl zhang li yin was also included in the "super girls" lineup at one point 😉 (she was basically planned to be the "hangeng" of snsd. like how hangeng was the chinese member of super junior, which is snsd's "brother" group that they were based off of; but zhang li yin at the time didnt dance that well and also had insane vocal talent, so she became a solo).

yes she was almost in SNSD. You can see the different lineup revisions before they settled on the final 9 here:https://snsdkorean.com/2010/01/02/the-making-of-so-nyuh-shi-dae/  Lee Hwan-hee was in the very first lineup roster, then she was eliminated in the 1st revision, then added back in for the 2nd revision, then finally was eliminated again in the 3rd revision before the final lineup roster.

The link A Hamster Named Loneliness has the iterations. Chanmi recorded a version of ITNW so it's possible Hwanhee and Soyeon did too at the very final stages. As for Taeyeon being cold, she hasn't acknowledged Jessica since 2014, and she was an actual SNSD member.

Based on what Taeyeon said in regards to not sweating together, it looks like this woman, Hong Minji, never even trained with the SNSD members or if she did, it was for a very insignificant time. And for this woman to boldly state as if she had a place in SNSD, as if anyone and everyone could have gotten in SNSD, completely undermines the excruciating work the girls had to go through to debut.

ah yes, that was the blog post i was thinking of. no wonder i dont recognize this hong minji girl, she was never in any lineup for snsd from the beginning lmao. as for her not acknowledging jessica as an original member, i have to say, its disappointing. but at this point, im sure jessica also doesnt care or wish to be associated with snsd any longer, which is heartbreaking.

Damn!! Now that's worth talking about. I'm sad that her career didn't seem to take off... I liked her solo music but haven't heard from her in years.

The other trainees only said they were almost in SNSD but this girl claimed "That was [meant to be] *my* position/That should’ve been my spot” as if the members who made it to SNSD stole the spot from her.

It's good to see knetz seeing the point of the post.

Don’t downplay her message by the number debate. SNSD is her pride, and as leader she wanted to protect the name and her members.

You haven't heard anything from her in the past 12 years but this time she's had enough and she’s not letting anyone use SNSD again and get away with it.

Ah, but that doesn't seem bad to me? Its kind of like a 'I wish I was there'? Maybe in Korean it sounds more negative.
