This year, the Melon Chart was mainly ruled by soloists and bands, thus the lack of groups. Which other groups do you know of that did well on Melon this year but aren't attending? Tbh, I dont remember any apart from Twice (who won't win daesang, thus not attending) .

It’s possible BTS will win all 3 daesangs, Boy with Luv performed better than the songs of any of the other attendees on the Gaon Charts. It’s possible Chungha could win SOTY I guess, as the Melon data could be different.

The lineup is weak af, even AAA or Soribada have a better one lol, I hope Itzy girlies run away to home when they perform and receive their award

Agencies realized that It ain't AAA and their groups won't be getting an award just for sitting on a chair. It's funny to see that they were so excited to send their artists to AAA overseas despite the fact that it's a tragic show just because of the promise of getting an award... Classic.

Twice has a concert in Japan the same day lol, of course they won't attend

That moment when Soribada has a better line up than Melon. Seriously, these award shows are getting less and less interesting. Are there really NO artists to invite?

I was going to watch MMA and MAMAs this year but both award shows have a small number of artists attending and I think I'll just my faves' stages because watching the whole thing is not worth it.

I doubt agencies will send their groups there to perform and sit there while they don't get any awards, it may have started out as attend and receive but I'm pretty sure now their agencies don't want their idols to look bad. Award shows should start inviting everybody as guests (which will increase their reputation), not just idols but everybody who made an impact despite not performing like america does and not indicate the winners. Therefore groups won't feel left out if they didn't win because there are 20 other artists there who didn't too. But now its just that "everyone sitting here is going to get an award" type show, where is the suspense? 

Everything pre-determine which will harm ratings. First award show to do this will be highly favoured by the general public as it won't just be idol award show. I feel Melon would probs do this first...MAMA too busy hosting outside of korea lol.
