EasySteezy 860
Why must they have catchy bops? They have dramas that mostly just are about fantasizing about gaining wealth and power, and a partner that is a total douchelord They are big on plastic surgery (I know a lot of places are but Korea seems to think it's an expectation to be successful) They shame women for their sexuality more than most. Netizens are ruthless They treat mental illness so harshly all these idols committing suicide I'm glad I only stream, because I don't want to have TOO much of my money going to keep the idol wheel a' spinnin. I know I can't single handedly stop the toxic culture, but I just don't want to contribute too much to it I just hope one day their culture shifts to a more healthy one. Where success and money aren't everything.Where good looks aren't seen as a necessity for women. I know women are under a lot of pressure to be beautiful in all cultures. But you don't hear about graduation plastic surgery being a common gift in other countries. My heart goes out to the Korea, they make me angry but I genuinely get upset and angry when I think about a society that puts mental illness so much under the rug like in the case with Jonghyun. I'm severely Bipolar as I've stated a million times on here and I'm big on rights for those that are mentally unwell, and seeing this happen time and time again. Kinda makes me wanna find a new forum to join where I don't have to see netizens going "psycho psycho" over every little quirk an idol has 4 1

sakurahanabira 6,633
It's not just limited to Korea. Even Japan suffers from many of the same problems (and their gender equality is even worse than Korea--they literally ban women from wearing glasses for stupid reasons like "glasses don't go well with kimono" or on another article I read, "they'll fall off your face into the food") at some of their companies. Also they forced that Akb48 member to shave her head when she started dating, and she gave a public apology.

Yoonability 4,159
The misogyny in Korean society is really infuriating. I don't know how Korean women stand it. I barely get by living in a country where things are already very equal. I think anyone openly declaring themselves a feminist in Korea (especially when they're a public figure) is very brave.
