Growing longer hair

fufu

Recommended Posts

So I really want to grow my hair longer, but it barely seems to be growing, or at least not as quick as it was when I started a few months ago. Right now it's in a stage where it's long but not manageable, and I need to get through it. So basically...

Is there a way to grow my hair longer faster?

Any help or knowledge is appreciated. Oh and i'm a boy btw, if that makes any difference...

About managing your hair:

My hair used to be EXTREMELY frizzy, I just could not control it at all. I learned how to tame it down by applying either hair food or PURE coconut oil 12 hours or more before showering. It also softened my hair a lot. Just don't abuse the coconut oil as it will over-soften the hair which will cause hair to fall.

Growing your hair:

Same step as above, you just need to massage your hair as the blood will flow and it will grow much faster. Do this on a daily basis. Also when showering, wet your hair with warm water to open the pores, and then when washing off the shampoo, wash it off with the coldest water you have as it will close the pores and prevent hairfall and it will make your hair shiny and healthy.

Healthy hair = less hair fall

It worked on me and worked on my friends who also btw had dandruff. They saw that dandruff is weak against cold water as well.

tl;dr

Ooooh that all sounds like stuff I can get to grips with (get it? grips. massage. grips. tehehehee). Thank you!  :ahmagah:

whats your hair type

I don't really know, i'll have to research it

I had the same problem...

I took pills, honey etc but they didn't even work OTL

Just don't think about it! You'll see how it grows :)

Yeah, I saw stuff about pills but they seem too risky and unnatural. I really want to dye it, so i'm anxious to get it to the right length first

Or actually if you use Biotin don't swallow it with water. It will take awhile for the nutrients to get to your hair and it will just be distributed throughout your body.

Cut the pill open with a knife and rub the liquid inside on your hair and in your scalp.

I'm a guy too and my hair is long but honestly I don't do anything but massage my scalp and trim the ends every month. When you shower also use warm/cold water instead of hot water because it's easier to break your hair when the pores on your scalp are opened by the steam. I don't know what you could do to grow your hair longer since I think it has to do with genetics but good luck on growing your hair, I'm sure it'll grow some more in the upcoming months so don't worry too much.

I guess it's a little oily if I don't shampoo. It's not totally straight or curly it just sort of turns up on the ends and I suppose it's a little thick.

Just make sure you take really good care of it.

Avoid using heat.

People say that trimming your hair makes it grow faster but it just gets rid of split ends so that when you do go get it cut, you don't have to cut it super short to get rid of them. It essentially keeps your hair healthy.

Using argan oil in your hair is a good way to seal split ends and keep it healthy.

More than speed, it's about care and stimulation so that your hair will grow consistently and healthily. I'm also growing my hair out after a couple of years of extreme abuse and cutting my hair. I'm black, so my hair requires much more protection and care, but I'll share some basics that would help anyone.

First: Prevent breakage

  • Sleep with a satin or silk pillowcase, or wrap up/braid your hair at night
  • Don't wear ponytails too tight, as this will cause hair to break at the area of the most tension
  • Trim dead and slit ends, as they can continue their behavior up the hair shaft and cause more breakage

Second: Products

  • Castor Oil
  • Essential Oils such as tea tree, peppermint, and lavender

Castor Oil is used to speed up and thicken hair growth. You can massage it into your scalp. It's a rather thick oil, so some people like to dilute it with olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, etc.

As for essential oils, They're good for stimulating the scalp and increasing blood flow. However, most essential oils need to be diluted in one way or another, so never apply directly to the scalp. You can put it into a carrier oil like the ones mentioned to dilute castor oil, or you can put them in a homemade hair mask.

Third: Methods

  • Scalp massaging, like others have said
  • Inversion method. This is something some people do once a month to see spurts in hair growth. This involves having the head upside down, or "inverting", to bring more blood to the head. People do this for five minutes each day for about a week and have seen as much as one inch in growth. It's not certain if this affects the growth after, such as having slower than usual growth, but some people really like it.  You should do more research on it though, because people have different ways of going about it and you should choose the way that's best for you.

Good luck!

Not really though. You trim you hair because if you leave the split end for too long it will eventually work all the way up to the hair shaft causing damage to the hair follicle.

All of these. Also, drinking a recommended amount of water will keep it healthy and soft so there will be less breakage/hair loss. Use this to see an approximate amount of water you should drink. Just make sure you don't go overboard.

First things first you'll need to trim your hair. When you're growing out, stylist recommend a trim every 12-14 weeks. Trims help the hair grow faster, but you don't want to trim too often.

Also, if you use any type of heat on your hair or permanent and box dyes on your hair, stop. It's bad for the hair and slows down growth. Semi-permanent dyes used by a professional don't effect it that much, so using those should be fine.

I've also been informed that washing your hair with horse shampoo can make it grow quicker, but I have never done that before.

If your hair is thin, you're in luck. Thin hair grows a lot faster than thick hair. When I was a freshman in high school I cut my hair very short, not even touching the shoulders short. After I got it trimmed every 12-14 weeks, stopped using heat on my hair, and only used semi-permanent dye, my hair was past my breasts by my junior year. But the key was have thin hair. It grows so fast I have to cut my bangs all the time or they'll get in my eyes.

Moral of the story: have thin hair and don't treat your hair like crap and you'll see faster results.

This might sound extremely gross but DON'T WASH YOUR HAIR AS LONG AS YOU CAN. A beauty guru that I follow said that your hair will release these oils that will help with the growing process and for that to happen you'll need to stay away from washing it off. I've personally have done this (yes, I know gross..) and I actually think it works.

I heard something like that before. But it was that your hair will naturally wash itself if you don't wash it for 3 or 4 weeks. I don't know how true it is though, and I have to shower every day so washing my hair just always happens so there's no really way to stop doing it.
