SM, JYP, YG financial revenue numbers - 3rd quarter 2019

I guess I know what SM spend money for.

SM owns artists. But some work (or may be the most part of the work) related to their activity is done by side company (SM's private company).

Let's say JYP's revenue is 45B, SM's one is almost 4 time bigger.

JYP's operating expenses are around 30B, and SM's one could be around 120B.

So meanwhile JYP's operating profit is ~15B, SM's op.profit could be smth like 53B (173B-120B).

I mean SM could spend 120B on their activity, but they somehow spent ~153B (173B-19.9B).

Where are remained 153B-120B=33B wons??? It makes 33B÷1165=19.7 millions of USD.

I guess SM should take contacts of companies JYP works with. They could save 19.7 milions of USD for SM, 20% of SM's expences.

Edit: I'm sorry, if my English is not good enough to explain what I wanted.

yg's profit is -6.3b tf is that mean? they have debts now????

No it's just what they've earned over the last 3 months. The fact that it's in minus means their costs were higher than their profits, in this case MUCH higher 😔 But companies have capital (investment assets and profit they've earned through the years) which should cover those costs. It does look pretty dark for YG tho, because they've had pretty large deficits the last two quarters, which will ofc slowly shrink their capital, and on top of that they had to pay back LVMH's investment of 64B won.

But JYP has these "good" numbers because he overworks and exploit his groups and the staff a lot.

I mean, great for the company and shareholders, terrible for everybody else.

It’s not even right to put SM on the same list. For one we don’t even know where their profit and losses come from. They have so many side businesses from like developing freaking AI/robotics and shit.

I’m assuming they’re hoping for a big pay out eventually. But well.

They all have side businesses though. JYPE a little less but those diversified assets is probably what saved them from bankruptcy when they lost all this money trying to push Wonder Girls in the US and didn't have any big money maker for a few years. The current Big3 have learnt from previous big agencies that relied too heavily on the success of their idols, and became irrelevant when said idols left the company.

When people say that BigHit is not big3 material yet, that's why. They have bigger revenue than JYPE but they don't have diversified assets yet. They're expanding though, but seem to keep it entertainment related for now (other agencies + gaming).

No. No one comes close to what SM is doing. Look at that difference in revenue it’s double triple even. That’s indication enough.

the difference is for SM their idol business is not even their main business just looking at gross revenue

ikr..how did they over-estimate demand like that? lmaoo

Ikr how some dumb people think they lost alot of money because of that.

So  BH is losing money because BTS did 88% in Thailand stadium according to y'all, they over-estimated their demand there and in Saudi Arabia too lol.

Yall look like a bunch of clowns rn, claiming that yg would have enough money to rig the PCA’s for bp 😭

I mean even if they did, why would they waste money on a people’s choice award? Like what’s not clicking?

I am no math whiz but I'm pretty sure 88% of a stadium is a tiny bit more than 5k on 20k....88% is actually pretty solid 🤔 I mean the difference in step is quite big. Instead of booking a stadium, to fill that demand, they would've had to make multiple multiple nights due to a major downsizing at one venue. I mean, sounds like a pretty different scenario to me. And BTS is clearly doing it right as they made about 117M$ ...
