What does Naver got to do with this. So how about we be better people and not drag Yuri’s name into this.

OP wrote this thread, he/she can fuck off with their spreading awareness. You can spread awareness by putting his NAME from the start and not dragging another innocent woman into a crime that has hurt her family and korean women.

You could have just put Jung Joo Young chat friends sentence revealed if you want you’re spreading awareness clickbait title. :)

There are already thready about JJY with no mention of Kwon Hyun Jun in them which is why I felt I had to put the emphasis on him in this one.

I find it a bit troubling you are taking more issue with me using her name than her brother being an alleged rapist but I understand it's a tough time for her fans. Just keep in mind I'm not a news source, just someone on the internet discussing the biggest scandal in kpop. There hasn't been a day in the last 9 months that kpop fans didn't ask when are the guilty guys gonna be prosecuted. Now that it's happening, we have the right to discuss all the aspects of it.

Because you don't even mention his name in the title, you just mention Yuri's. If you want to talk about the scandal, then talk about him. You didn't need to mention only Yuri and not the actual alleged rapist.

You're right. Should have done that from the start but I added it now.

I went looking for more info about the difference in years for each of them and I'll have to rely on Soompi's translation:

"For Jung Joon Young, the prosecution requested seven years in prison for charges of filming and spreading illegally taken footage in addition to a case of aggravated rape (refers to rape that involves two or more perpetrators).

The prosecution requested five years in prison for Choi Jong Hoon, who is being charged for participation in the aggravated rape case.

10 years in prison were requested both for former Burning Sun employee Mr. Kim and office worker Mr. Kwon on charges including quasi-rape (refers to rape when the victim is unconscious or unable to resist), and five years were requested for former entertainment agency employee Mr. Heo for the charge of aggravated quasi-rape."

The difference comes from the fact JJY and Jonghyun being able to reach a settlement with the victims which the others could not:

"The prosecution commented, “The demands were made considering the natures of the crimes and that settlements have not been reached with the victims.”"

https://www.soompi.com/article/1365382wpp/prosecution-requests-prison-sentences-for-jung-joon-young-and-choi-jong-hoons-sexual-crimes

So, in light of this new info, I'm going to change the title of the thread to something more appropriate.

Not gonna lie, I actually do find these sentences kinda mild but I guess it's a start.

I feel bad for Yuri as well. To have your name even a little bit related to this crap must be a nightmare. Not to mention whatever conflicting feelings she might have towards her brother.

Do we really need to mention him as Yuri's brother instead of his name?

It's litterally what the k-media has been putting in all the articles. To the point of now crimes of her brothers are litterally in the related search for Yuri's name on Nate.

Which is very bad.

But people seems to understand that Yuri has nothing to do with it, and clearly are sympathizing with her cause he's litterally hurt her career and her image that she worked hard for. And also bringing his whole family down and to shame.

Just that?

But then again the Korean justice system did put a brutal rapist away for only 12 years and he's set to be released next year. I have no faith in their justice system at all.

I mean the justice system is broken everywhere. Here in the US, you can get away with most crimes if you're a "good-looking" rich white man.

I know. I live in the US, too. But I have NEVER seen the justice system so broken like in Korea. There's a petition to not release this man but it's been ignored.
