According to a 2019 Album Sales Top 20 Chart, YG Entertainment has gone down in ranks from the top 3 to number 5.

YG, who is known to be one of the top 3 agencies in Korea, alongside SM and JYP, has been pushed back by Big Hit Entertainment and Pledis Entertainment.

The chart is based on the Gaon Chart from January 2019 to October 2019 and shows that Big Hit Entertainment ranks first with 6,312,409 in album sales. SM comes in at second with 3,714,079 in sales. The gap between first and second place is significantly wider than the differences between second to seventh place.

It has been a rough year for YG with multiple scandals and controversies. With BIGBANG Seungri’s club assault scandal, YG terminated his contract earlier this year. Amidst all these scandals, YG’s stock prices also dropped following the news of iKON’s B.I. Drug scandal.

Even a petition started to suspend YG Entertainment’s activities and received over 40,000 signatures by the end of the petition date.

I guess we will have to wait and see what the new year holds for YG Entertainment.

This was a tough year for all Korean entertainment companies. Good luck next year 🎉🙌

What do you say, if it's the year with the most sales of all entertainment companies.

Btw, delulus still think that a full album will increase sales more lmao.

Stray Kids sold more than Got7?

Stray Kids released 2 new albums this year so far (with a third one coming next month), and Got7 just one.
And SKz fandom has been growing steadily over the year, which means new fans also are buying their older albums (if you look at the october chart the only Stray Kids album that's not in top 100 is Clé 2 Yellow Wood). More than 100,000 of the sales are from their 2018 releases (Mixtape + I Am series).

This seems like a misleading article.

In the sense that they didn't fall down but actually went up one place thanks to Wanna One's disbandment, yeah pretty much.

Blackpink really carrying the company in all areas lol, physicals, digitals, concerts, merch, streaming, sns....

They would sell +1m albums or more easy if they distribute them all over SEA countries + USA-South America/Europe
