Do you buy black haircare products? Why are they so expensivvve (dahyun voice)

I used to only buy black products but I'm finding that some of these mainstream brands are just as good for less than half the price!  For example, Trader Joes $4 tea tree conditioner is super moisturizing and provides more slip than any of my expensive shea moisture and camille rose conditioners.  Plus the ingredients list is clean too!  I just need to find a cheap leave in that works and then I can finally leave these overpriced companies alone for good.
