Could you date someone with VERY different music taste than you? What genre would be the deal breaker

I don't think that's very important although it would be weird to not have anything in common when it comes to music preferences. Like I listen mostly to rock, electronic and classical music and also enjoy going to concerts but I'm not closed to those styles. My biggest struggle is when I date someone that likes to dance and likes something like, let's say salsa as that's not something I would hear on my own volition.

Overall...sure. but if they primarily listen to like rock(well more harder rock) / metal / screamo shit. it aint gonna work. esp if theyre the type to listen to it outloud, sing along. bang along on steering wheel in the car, to. cuz the former 2, i have coworkers who do this (mostly listening to outloud, w/o headphones, sometimes singing) and it drives me up the wall. also my boss plays radio station loud over the speakers (at least coworkers only thru their phone tbh) and like, if its current hits which is sometimes, i can rock w that. or 2000s station, which is what they play most the time, love hearing bops i havent in awhile. but when they play the classic rock station. girl i cant stand that sht. also my dad does all 3 of those things, and it annoys the shit out of me cuz hes tone def, i dont wanna hear his music. and he doesnt know how to play instruments (i know a few) so i hate when he pretends to in the car hhh

like,,,i was looking at my ex's spotify prof the other day and i actually thot wow...got out of that one. bc her like 10 listened to artists was all some screamo / hard rock or metal stuff . nah but fr, she just kinda likes that stuff, she likes a lot of the music i do as well. but anw. yeah basically i dont like those genres. and even if our music did sync. sometimes. i just dont wanna hear someone elses music when im trying to relax in the quiet or hear my own which is why i cant stand people who play their music on speaker or sing/"play" along. like we condone tapping. but not something too obnoxious like, as i said, banging the steering wheel

Spoiler

anyway, this is my most listened to on spotify according to skiley

no idea what some of these even mean tho tbh

Dutch mumble rap is a big NOPE

But I'm generally open-minded when it comes to music. I always have some overlap in music taste with crushes and friends. I also discovered new artists and styles thanks to them (and they found artists thanks to me) so some differences are appreciated actually...

I believe that there are no good and bad genres, just good and bad songs, subgenres and artists. Example: I love EDM but not all subgenres and some artists' songs all sound the same... Just like how I can enjoy hiphop but mumble rap is ew

I mean headphones exist. So no it's not a deal breaker. (Maybe country, but other than that)

I listen to a lot of Kpop and Pop. Outside of that I listen to a lot of musical theater and opera. I also used to be very into alternative but not so much these days.

Yes, I could.. My ex likes German pop and rock music, whereas I think that people who like German pop and rock music must be completely out of their mind (worst genres for me next to Schlager music).. I still love him so...

I pretty much like a variety of genres so I shouldn't have any issues.  But if they like a artists I dislike or vice-versa that could be a dealbreaker.  there was someone who liked me but used to shade the artists I like and I didn't care for their taste either and started to avoid this person.  they finally got the message and stop trying to contact me.  idk if I would say it had more to do with the music.. that was part of it I guess but think it was more the fact how they wanted to put down the music I liked compared to where me i just kept my opinion to myself.
