2020 might be even harder than 2019 for kpop

All these scandals that involved idols would continue to push the Korean GP off idols

Groups had it hard this year. They barely charted with the exception of few

I feel like 2020 may be even  harder tbh. Ofc physical sales will  be safe but the GP is important for idols' career, cfs etc

I hope I will be proven wrong

It is true that GP moved away from idol group music this year tbh and at least 3rd gen groups have some sort of recognition within GP.  it is going to be a battle for 4th generation groups to grab the attention of GP because it is not going to be easy and groups with privileges have to start from zero as well.  I don't think anything really changing in 2020 as there are bigger scandals involving whole industry, decade worth of informations yet to be released to the public. It will slowly but surely come out.

I interested to hear more about the cult involvement of an entertainment.

Tea! GGs are doing pretty good, BGs on the other hand are doing pretty badly.

Eh...

Isn’t itzy the only girlgroup this year that had a hit song? Compared to past years 2019 is underperforming

I just want a kpop group to come out and release something truly groundbreaking. I feel like we haven't had anything like that in a long time, i.e. something along the lines of Fantastic Baby or Genie. I think a lot of that can be attributed to reliance on what is "trendy" and companies being too afraid to make anything that isn't already being done. After being a fan of the genre for 10 years, the only thing really keeping me updated with the scene are groups I'm already accustomed to, however I would love for that to change. It's just that nothing has really stood out to me much, and I also think the over saturation of the scene is making everything feel a bit too crowded. I hope 2020 brings more boldness and experimentation, but with how things are looking I'm not too confident..

True, but they're still doing better than the bgs which was my point in the post.

Honestly, it has been one of the worst years for kpop.

Not really? Most BGs with the very few exceptions have never really charted well if at all. BGs mostly rely on fandoms and so far alot of these rookie BGs have been doing great and groups like Seventeen and Monsta X have been rising even higher as well. X1 even charted very well for a rookie boy group.

It's the girl groups that heavily rely on the general public and the causal followers and other than ITZY no other female rookie group managed to do well on the charts even the hugest names twice and BP had underwhelming chart performances compared to their previous years.

Sure the physicals have improved for many GGs but it's still not enough because GGs need the public with the exception of twice they don't have enough large cult like followings to keep them a float for a very long time compared to BGs.

As a whole I think the general public either is becoming less and less interested in idol music or they are in a "burn out phase" due to all the scandals and no offense low quality music.

If this trend continues and the public continues to lose interest in idols I can see companies trying to redirect the focus to building a bigger more dedicated fandom when debuting female groups for touring and more physical sales and I can see them trying to appeal to female audiences rather than male audiences.

An exo stan really thought they're doing something there by sneaking in exo in here as if they could save kpop and bg's rep lol when the last legit good song they had was like 2-3 years ago.

If you're counting on 1 gg only then bg have bts which exceeds in all aspect. Digital, physical, international & local impact, they win it all.

so by this logic bg is doing better 🙄
