i miss shows like that too :(((

anyways - there were fanwars then too

nah more like the issue are the companies, imo. they're greedy

also many of the shows were time consuming. nowadays idols have other activities to do. the focus isn't just korea anymore either. they also have other options like vlive..

by the way they did try with the third gen with that boss is watching show.

I never said fanwars didn't exist back then, just that people have become so sensitive over time over the littlest things. I'd take these shows over repetitive and boring shoddily shot music shows any day tbh

people are just as sensitive now as they were then lol

the kpop companies themselves are preventing shows like these from being popular. nowadays when networks try to do all idol like shows it's usually mostly nugus

kpop companies don't seem to want to share, if they don't have to. plus big companies and/or companies with popular idols don't seem to want nugus or rising groups to take any attention and/or fans from their own groups. which happens all the time with these shows. people would learn more about other groups. they want all the attention and fans to themselves..

Cultural appropriation is taken differently, for one. Sensitivity off the charts lol Partly blame the bigger amount of eyes on K-Pop and PC culture. Now even when opposite sex idols from big companies collab they have this awkward distance between them. Troublemaker and shit like this rarely happen in the 3rd gen.

As for this being a company thing, maybe. But the market is now way more saturated than it was before, so it's not like actual nugus will even get a chance to be on these shows. "Nugus" of 2nd gen (like ZE:A, who still were somewhat successful and appeared on these shows) aren't comparable to the nugus of the 3rd gen.

Gonna quote angelina here and say if Blackpink and BTS were part of the 2nd gen they would have collabed already.

Cultural appropriation and charts have nothing to do with why these shows don't exist

Idols mostly do whatever their companies make them do. And most kpop fans are sheep that follow the trends of the industry - which are controlled by the companies lol

Triple H and Kard are accepted just fine with 3rd gen fans. Many would be on board for more co-ed groups and/or opposite gender interactions.

It's not just about nugus...even popular group with popular groups....popular company groups with other popular company groups...there is still an opportunity for groups to lose fans to other groups. The main point still stands. Companies don't like to share anymore. Or more like they never did, but now they are not forced to do Korean idols shows alone. There are so many options, methods, and alternatives for groups to gain popularity. (sns, vlive, international fanmeets, etc) Plus many popular Korean variety shows now invite idols - in the past they didn't as much - which is why "for idol" shows were created.

BP and BTS will not collab anytime soon because of their companies. YG and Bighit? naahhh lol. For one Bighit probably do not even want their "clean image" idols associated with all of YG drama...wouldn't be surprise a few of the members don't either.

Never said that's the reason they don't exist lol CA was about fans being sensitive, whereas the music show thing was my own off-shoot opinion of what I'd rather have.

Triple H have Hyuna, who has already been in Troublemaker... a 2nd gen group, so not that surprising lol KARD are still mostly an international thing and have trouble gaining ground in Korea. It'd be naive to say fans don't perpetuate the "clean image" of idols that companies are upholding. I'm sure there are many voices that do want co-ed interactions (mainy ifans), but there are also many with the opposite (naturally as K-Pop has grown big).

Never refuted your claim about companies not wanting to share, simply pointing out that there's a difference in the market now compared to before. So many idols means less opportunities for an "idol community"feeling so to speak and moreso a competition.

Gonna leave this here coz it's golden oof

It had two 3rd gen male idols too...fans were overall fine...

I agree about the market being different. There are more opportunities.

Anyways, generally I still don't see the difference between 2nd gen and 3rd gen fans when it comes to different idols interacting. I feel there are just as many 3rd gen fans who would support now like there was then. There are so many multifans. I mean, nowadays some of the most popular Kpop youtube videos with millions of views have to do with ships(different groups) and idols reacting to other performances. People are desperate for idol interactions now too.

The shows/segments would be popular now too, if companies and idols would just do them T^T

I guess we're saying the same things just in a different way. I totally agree that the overall actual perspective is pretty similar, just that it's more amplified now b/c of K-op's boost in popularity.

One of the things I've loved about watching Queendom is watching the group interactions, even if it is a "competition" show. This is one of the saddest things that has changed about kpop over the years and probably what I miss the most about the older gen. Collab stages are so rare.
