Nissan Stadium (International Stadium Yokohama) has the highest seating capacity of any stadium in Japan, with a total of 75,000 seats. Less than 20 artist have performed in the stadium. TVXQ is the first Kpop artist and only foreign artist to perform at Nissan stadium. Also the first and only artist who performed for 3 days. Performed first in 2013 and returned in 2018.

Who will be the next Kpop group to perform in the stadium?

The next girl group?

 The next boy group?

For anyone who think it's BTS, why do you think Bighit didn't add it to their recent stadium tour?

Will any of these groups perform before the end of 2020?

Note: Individual solo concerts are included as the group name.

Who will be the next Kpop group to perform in the stadium? BTS...or Twice or Big Bang (if still active)

The next girl group? Twice

 The next boy group? BTS

For anyone who think it's BTS, why do you think Bighit didn't add it to their recent stadium tour? Bighit underestimates and/or like to play it safe. They could of did a Dome tour back in 2016/2017.

Will any of these groups perform before the end of 2020? Maybe BTS...idk

When booking nissan stadium you should make sure your fanbase cares enough to go there and fill it which I assume isn't a concern for BTS

Many Bigeast (japanese fans of TVXQ) complain about the venue not only for it's location but for how massive it is, so filling the venue is a trouble on itself for many reasons

All in all, either BTS or Twice should not have trouble filling one or two dates there

btw big bang isn't even able to fill dome tours anymore so unless they ONLY BOOK the nissan stadium, they should not do it

I wasn't aware that Big Bang had issues filling up their venues. I always assume they were popular base on what others said and their sales.

Plus, I figure their Jfans would be eager to see them together after the military, even as just 4 members.

I think it's pretty obvious, unless the companies don't want to for whatever reason or the stadium just don't allow them to hold a concert there, I'm pretty sure the hard part wouldn't be filling the stadium but booking a date lol...
But Twice and BTS are the obvious answers, they could for sure hold a concert there, I mean... BTS is BTS... and Twice received over 1m ticket requests for their japanese leg of the world tour so I'm pretty sure they could at the very least hold one concert there

Apparently their debut album sold 20K+ and they were #1 on Line music charts in 2018. I remember some people considered them second after Twice in Japan.

Of course, not sure how they're doing now tho...we're almost at the end of 2019...

Big Bang used to be really popular, but they...... really didn't care about their jfanbase at all. Just YG stuff. The public interest decreased so did the jfanbase and at their last tour they weren't able to fill the domes they booked, they overestimated the demand. YG of course covered that shit with mediaplay. Even when TVXQ books a whole dome tour they're still able to book dates on nissan stadium after the whole tour... That's their power not onyl with JFanbase but with general public.

BTS has the kpop public with them along with JFanbase which is the same for Twice, but how many of them care enough to go to Nissan Stadium? Not only that but afaik they need to be allowed on there.

But as I said, they shouldn't have a trouble filling like one or two dates.

Concerts in Japan are often filled with people from all around Asia and not just Japan. So I’m pretty sure EXO can fill it up quite easily. They did fill up Tokyo dome multiple times easily.

But perhaps not in time for enlistment, perhaps after they return.

that's a good point about people from all over asia coming to japan

with exo i'm also thinking after enlistment, if the members are still interested in the idol life with sm...tho i feel at least exo-cbx and kai will be

none, i guess.

i think there's a reason nissan isn't used a lot for concerts. i took a quick look at reservation price and while tokyo dome is way more expensive, nissan takes a 8% cut of total ticket sales and most probably also takes a cut from merch sold at the stadium. it might have worked for toho bc they have this premium seat option + older fanbase with some serious cash. plus it's a football stadium so i assume all the concerts have to take place off-season which doesn't leave a lot of time - esp. for bts with their world tours.

So a company that do not mind losing a bit of money. A group able to make it up in other concerts and areas. That shouldn't be a problem for bts or really any group who have the popularity. Besides, I mean, if even SM don't care about losing 8% then..lol. I think most companies would send their groups for the media play alone.

Which leads to my next question which months are off season?

Nissan doesnt take much cut from Merchandise sales. Especially since Merchandise sales just started to blow up in the past five or so years. Especially for Kpop concerts. They probably take 2% at most. At Nissan you would make just as much from merchandise if not more than ticket sales assuming the tickets are 100 on average. Basically doubling your money.

TVXQ for three days as Nissan made about 50 million USD. 23 million from ticket sales and 25 million from concert goods. At max Nissan got 5 million USD from that. Most likely less (1-3 million)

Thanks for sharing! I've always heard groups can make a lot money in Japan. Wow😮

Without a doubt, I would say BTS and Twice next. BTS  is a no brainer and would no doubt be able to fill the venue easily. For Twice, it depends on JYP but ofc I can see them doing it in the future easily. They have the demand and huge fanbase.

As for who's next from SM to follow TVXQ's footsteps, imo it's Shinee. I can see them doing it after 3 of the members comeback from military and before the maknae enlist. Alot of people especially intl fans don't know/realize or just underestimated their popularity there but the truth is at SMTown concerts in Japan, Shinee are actually the most in demand after TVXQ and their merchs always sold out the fastest. They have high sales as well as always in the top 10-20 ranking of highest touring overall in Japan. Also the fact the members are very popular there especially Taemin and they all can speak Japanese very well. The demand is there (as well as for Taemin's solo at Tokyo Dome). So once Taemin gets his solo at Tokyo Dome which is speculated to be around next year or the year after, I can see the whole group moving onto Nissan.

I dont know exactly which BG is going to be there next but after TVXQ, the only boy group I truly feel deserves to be on that stage is EXO. I get the same feels from both TVXQ and EXO. They are like vocally superior grps which no one can even dare to touch . Wonder why SM never promoted EXO , when they used to easily fill Tokyo dome without any albums?  they have like only one album ? When it comes to EXO , I never understand SM tbh.
