Do you bother keeping your physical music albums in near-mint condition?

I try my best to keep them in near-mint condition.

After I take off the plastic wrapping off my physical albums and rip the songs on to my computer, I will put them in these so called clear present/gift bags from Daiso Japan, and then I seal them by applying some adhesive tape along the edges of the bag's opening.

On a side note, I recently got my Girl's Day First Repacked Album and Rainbow Blaxx's Autographed Special Album.  And yes, I have sealed them in plastic bags as well :)

Correction:  Note that I don't permanently seal them.  I made it so the plastic bags are resealable.

I would have said yes until reading your post LOL.

I'm really careful handling them. They seem to be fine in their own cases/booklets, though. I never stack them.

Unfortunately, the first time I brought some back from Korea I didn't really pack them with padding, so the ones with softer cases became a little bit marked. :/

There's no need to tbh, it's not that fragile. I have a bunch of cds from the mid to late 80s and they still work perfectly!

It really depends, and I'm talking about the whole album here, not just the CDs themselves.  The album case, the photobooks, the photocards, and everything else that comes packaged with it.  Also, CDs don't last forever as rotting may occur due to oxidation.  Disc rot is inevitable, and will slowly manifest itself overtime.   Properly storing your albums can reduce the chance of disc rot from occurring.  But that's the least of my worries.  The main reason why I store them in plastic bags is so that I can provide some type of protective surface for the physical albums and the content that comes with them.  Photobooks are usually included in K-Pop albums and those are really fragile.

Can you post a picture of your plastic bags that you use?

I keep all my autographed albums bubble wrapped to prevent smudging or fading of the marker but I feel like I could use something better

I have my Boyfriend IYAH cd autographed by them personally at a fansign and I want these signatures to last forever ><

I also have a autographed Boyfriend Minwoo polaroid I won 3 years ago and I have it in a glass case and it looks the same as when I first got it!!

I don't know, maybe it just depends on where the cds come from?

I store my cds on shelves or drawers and some of them are almost 30 years old and still work perfectly and look like I only bought them a couple months ago. They do have some marks on them (tiny scratches and fingerprints) but that's inevitable and as long as it's not a big scratch, it doesn't impact the audio quality. Photobooks (I guess you're talking about the cd booklet with credits and lyrics that comes with the cd?) usually get damaged (in the corners) when you take them out to look at them but it's normal too. Then I don't really care about that as long as my cds still work... never had any oxidation though!

Sure, but I'll PM you some photos.

I think the ones you are using provide better protection, whereas mines are just simple plastics sheets.  But I love to use them because they look good lol.  You'll see what I mean when I send you the photos.

And from the info your provided, it seems like the autographs on your albums were written on a smooth glossy surface.  I probably won't be able to help you with that since my Rainbow Blaxx album is actually my very first autographed album.  The autographs for my album are written on a matte surface of what seems to be of paper material.  The ink also seem to have sunk into the cover of the album so I don't have to worry about it being smudged.

CDs have long life span, so of course your CDs are still working fine.  But what I said about disc rotting is also true.  Lastly, note that scratches on CDs also speed up the process of rotting.

And the following videos should give you an idea of what the photobooks for K-Pop albums are like:

To be honest, I don't listen to most of my albums, especially my K-pop albums all but once - which is when I first buy them. The only one I really listen to so frequently is my Dok2 'Love and Life' album, and maybe my U-Kiss cd's, but then I place them in a drawer where they are perfectly organized and are able to be kept in perfect condition.

I didn't take as much effort as OP lol. But I do keep them to be in the best condition. After ripping the plastic seal, I stack them in a box and once in a while, take them out. In most albums, I never touch the CD because I've already downloaded the albums online. The photobooks are also in a good condition because I handle them really carefully.

The best photobook in my collection gotta be BoA's Hurricane Venus <3
