Turkish people, is there any person whose name is Guzel out there?

Recommended Posts

I know "guzel" means pretty/beautiful in turkish, but I never heard any turkish actress with the name "Guzel". Because I think the word 'guzel' could pass as a female name, due to its similar sound with 'giselle' for me. So is there any person in turkey has the name guzel?

"due to its similar sound with 'giselle'"? 😄

it's like finding an english woman named beautiful or pretty. very rare, maybe in rural areas.

I asked a turkish friend and he said it's a way too common word to be used as a proper name

but someone might have that name eventually

We do not name our children directly " Güzel", but we put names that mean Güzel (beautiful). Like "Ahsen,  Ecmel, Hesna, Melahat, Rukiye" means very beautiful. "Asena" means beautiful girl or she wolf. "Aybike" means beautiful like moon etc etc... Also, We don't have men named "Handsome. (Yakışıklı)" 😄

Surname maybe but its weird to use as a name.

Also i have to say its no different from naming someone "Beautiful" no matter how it sounds like giselle
