So what do you all think of Taeyong now?

Conflicted.

Because I have been a victim of bullying when I was a kid. People made fun of me for being poor. It would go on for years causing me depression and me feeling suicidal at age 11. So I sympathize with those victims to a great extent, bullying really never leaves you, it gives a big emotional scar. Just imagine seeing your bully being loved around by millions of fans around the world, traveling from country to country being adored and working for a big music company. It seems really fucked up.

So I'm distancing my self from him and NCT for a while untilI I make my final decision if I will support him. Most likely not, because I'm not really sure if he could change. I need something to tell me he has learned, especially seeing that homophobic message he wrote..it broke my heart into a million pieces, I'm really not sure if I could support a person like that.

I feel that, I myself was actually bullied a lot for being gay all throughout my schooling and it would hurt a lot if I saw any of those people get famous.

It's disgusting that he wrote that. This isn't the 60s he should've know better by now, I don't care if SK is a somewhat conservative many idols aren't assholes to say shit like that.

My opinion of him honestly hasn't changed and that opinion was always neutral. I think a lot of it comes down to how before he confirmed the bullying himself recently, I already knew it was highly probable that he was a nasty person as a child/teen. Judging from how SM never really took any legal action, how he apologised on video predebut, never outright denied the accusations, etc I kind of already gathered that there were truths to the accusations. That said, my opinion has always been neutral because I gave benefit of the doubt that people can learn and change. If everything someone did wrong in their youth was held against them and they were never given the chance to make reparations or better themselves, then people won't ever learn because they are shunned and discouraged from it. However, if he does have a bullying controversy as an adult which comes to light, for sure my thoughts about him would sour, especially since I'm choosing to give him a chance to show he's a good person as an adult.

Edit: I do want to add that while this is my opinion, I completely understand and respect that other people are not obligated to forgive him, support him or give him another chance. I think this is something that NCT and Taeyong fans should understand. Bullying is a sensitive topic and I totally get it if his confirmation of his past actions are just a complete deal-breaker for some people who either have been affected by bullying or other reasons of their choice.

I didn’t care for him before and I don’t care for him now.
but I just want to say something, maybe it’s controversial but like I just find his personality right now extremely fake. It’s like SM is forcing an excessively meek image on him to compensate for his past bullying. I don’t deny everyone in entertainment including my own favs do put on some mask or the other. But like just looking at the type of person he was and then looking at his personality now the contrast is just a bit mehhhh for me that I find myself side eyeing it.
ofc this is just a passing observation, all in all I don’t care for him much, before or after the reveal.

Yeah, I mean it's like they're trying to force him to act all innocent, if he was a bully before, then he's not innocent now. Sure he may be nicer now and not as a bad of a person, but he sure ain't innocent.

He didn't have any scandal since he started his career as a celebrity so it's not fair for him to be judged by past actions. Everyone has the right to change his lifestyle, to let go of the mistakes he did in the past and to prove he can be better. So until he'll do something controversial as a celebrity I won't judge him.

don't care. Not like any of this is a far stretch from what already came out years ago with his scamming scandal. Besides, I don't follow him/NCT for personality. Just for the occasional good music between the trash.

Fingers crossed this makes SM give away some of his future lines to the other members.

I doubt he's changed. I'm pretty sure it's all PR for his good image.

I've had this gut feeling that he's fake. And I am happy that my feeling was right.

He can go fuck himself. Bully and Homophobic.

Don't like him. Every apology he's made has felt extremely staged, manipulative and disingenuous. Who brings reporters with them if they genuinely wanted to apologize to someone? Who genuinely feels sorry for what they've done, if they create an apology video, but edit sad music and a gloomy background over it to make themselves look like the victim?  It might be SM's fault, but it still makes it very difficult to know if he's actually sorry for what he did, or if he's just sorry he got caught.

I want to desperately believe he has changed for the better. But, by 15-16 years of age if you're continuing to hurt people there must be something very wrong in you. And knowing how well SME creates images for members (and don't tell me I won't know because I've been a Cassie from very early) and manages idols, I don't know if Taeyong's nicer behaviour is a choreographed act or not. I guess I don't hate him because I want to have hope people can mature.

Also, if he is sincerely apologizing it is good for the souls of those he harmed while in school - for their peace of mind too I hope his repentance is genuine.

I am waiting TBH - I want more acts of penitence, apologizing and acts of amelioration towards his victims (all of them, as many as he remembers, even if some don't come forward being afraid of attacks by SM stans). I want him to continue to be open about his wrongdoings for all his celebrity life. I want him to prove he has turned a new leaf and become good. [The shadow of doubt will remain in my mind.]

People saying that he hasn't done anything bad as a celebrity is dumb.

BISH HE IS UNDER SM. SM IS PRETTY STRICT ABOUT CONSTRUCTING IMAGE  TO THE PUBLIC ESPECIALLY FOR A NEW GROUP.

AND SM IS GOOD AT FAKING IMAGES OF THEIR IDOLS ON TV. Look at some trashy Suju members who were assigned a certain image and years later...they wete actually trash.

I think that he’s disingenuous, and SM is forcing an image he’s not. He’s clearly a shit person with a good face, and that’s what’s carrying his career. Reality is, he’s made homophobic comments, scammed, bullied, fatshamed, and admitted to it. Trash remains trash until otherwise proven.
