Following B.I's recent drug scandal, there have been some iKONics have been using the phrase "WePurpleYouHanbin" and "WePurpleYouiKON" to support their idol group along with B.I. Some BTS fans have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure about the phrase being used in a context outside of BTS.

if you respect taehyung & bts, you should never use a term that was made for armys only! kiss as many a$es as you want, but leave purple you alone. this is just for bts & armys only. pic.twitter.com/wI74BjbOuL

"WePurpleYou" is mainly a term used in regards to BTS's V. Some fans are expressing their concern that this phrase is being linked to the current scandal and have expressed their displeasure.

The phrase is very important to both BTS and ARMY. It being by a member of BTS and sharing it privately during a concert, it’s kind of our own language.I don’t think it’s appropriate to other fandoms because it doesn’t hold the same emotion and meaning between the fans and artist

I am sorry for what is happening but this term is created by Taehyung for his fans.. for ARMY and not to be used for others please if you say you’re multi respect BTS too

There are plenty of ways to show support however "I purple you" holds a deep meaning to our fandom. Please respect it. Not all of us Stan I///K*n and it shouldn't be used on an incorrect context

Pretty sure BTS aren't close with Ikon

so why would they want their fandom phrase being used for defending drug scandals

Whether it's multies, ikonics or armys just please stop

I would be mad too

not like their stans were shitting on bts yesterday and their tweets receive 5k+ rt

most of them are ikon fans too like can y'all stop being so pushy?

tbh idc today is bts day

also when we had scandals nobody helped us, so why ppl always want us to give them sympathy

I don't get why multis would use it in this context? It has 0 meaning to BI, why not find something that is special to him and support him using that instead?

^^^^^^^^^

This 100%. Purple has a meaning to BTS so it's special when ARMYs say it to them. IKON, BI and purple have nothing in common. Might as well say "We Notebook you" to them

"WePurpleYouHanbin/IKON" for what. This phrase has no relevance to him whatsoever.

Why is something so personal and intimate between us and BTS being used for something meaningless to us.

I have 0 sympathy for someone who deliberately put their career and themselves at risk when he had multiple examples right in front of him.

Multi's need to learn to "show their love" for him in a different way cause this ain't it.

Army have no right to complain about this when so many of them were bitching about Tiffany fans being upset over sharing the same fandom name as whoever the other group is in Big Hit lmao y’all are a bunch of hypocrite. You guys told Tiffany fans it’s not a big deal so this shouldn’t be a big deal either

And yet enough Armys followed through and reported the matter/issue to Bighit to the point where Bighit responded and the name was changed. Interesting, huh

Furthermore, there was no way that Bighit even knew that was the official fanclub name for Tiffany as it wasn't even trademarked whereas the people using this phrase knew it came directly from Taehyung's mouth addressed to Armys because he literally coined the phrase.

No

Armies need to get a life. Sigh

I’m sure you’d say the same if everyone was saying We Are One BI <3

Multis need to handle their own fandoms separately. Don't take something so special to BTS to use to your other faves that are in the wrong. Boy knew what he got himself into, let him be responsible for his own actions and don't meddle other fandoms into the issue

It's fine to support Ikon, but don't use that phrase. Simple.

I'm sure other groups have things that are personal and/or inside jokes to the members too. Y'all wouldn't want other fandoms taking that away either.

For more context...

The phrase was created by Taehyung at BTS annual anniversary fanmeet. All the members were emotional and grateful to Armys. Specifically V was emotional that day, he shared to us about the passing of his grandma.

Western media and any event/show BTS go to also use purple hearts now.

Basically pretty much everyone know the importance of purple to Armys and BTS. It's basically our unofficial official fandom colorlovestruck.png
