so I have 2 friends, lets call them A and B

I'm turning 18 in two days (18th may)
i asked A and B if they're doing something this day (i just said "are you doing something on saturday" on our group chat) and they said they're going to study whole weekend
it kinda hurts idk im sad

A - my closest friend (im probably not her closest friend but we're still close and she knows she's the closest to me), as soon as 2019 started, everytime we got on the topic of my 18th bday she always was like "we will meet and get drunk!!" "we will go somewhere" blah blah, i mean, she was so hyped and confident
so I thought... you know, she will spend time with me or something, i'm disappointed tbh i wanna cry because it was nice to think that it's important to someone to spend time with u on that day, and she was so sure about it:(

and B

B is my friend, we're not <super close> but we know each other for years and we spend each other bdays and give each other gifs and shit, this i came to her house when she had bday even tho it was wednesday (we almost never meet on week days because we're too busy/tired etc)
i thought she wants to meet me too x] nah

ooh and A's bday was on week day too but somehow I managed to find time for her

i don't want to talk about it with them because i don't want to be pushy or act like im superior  (but still - they still can organise their time better and find 2 hours for me or something... its not like i want to waste their whole day and stay till 5 AM lol)
i just think its obvious that you spend time with your best friends on their birthdays?? why would i even bring that up

its just pretty disappointing, I wasnt worried about what i'll do on my bday because it seemed so clear to me i'll spend it with them

what do you think?

i think they care about me enough to remember when is my birthday... it's depressing if they dont

they know me for 4 years, idk how would they forget

Just tell them its my birthday and if they can make some time, if not its ok. Some people are just rubbish at remembering bdays, if they don't know but find out when you tell them they may put studying aside and prioritise you. It sucks but I feel like its better to make it clear to them. If they forget after that fact then its another problem.

Do it. What if this passes and they ask when your birthday is, and you have to answer "it passed but neither of you remembered"? That's gonna make them feel bad if they really forgot on accident.

I've forgotten birthdays of close friends and basically rely on the Facebook notification. It's just a date and easily forgettable. Yes, it's bitter, but at least let them know it's your bday, and if they still don't want to hang out knowing that, then pass your judgement.
