Why would you ghost someone you like?

I have done it once, we were shortly dating but she spontaneously had to leave the country permanently, so I decided not to contact them anymore. After few weeks, she sometimes would text me anyways. but I would end convos. I was not initiating contact.

If you had special bond with someone, ghosting them makes sense no? you are defending yourself from getting hurt. I am talking about the case where there is serious attraction (not fling type, but serious attraction, which is going for long time) , and suddenly ghosting happens.

why would i ghost someone i like...

why would i ghost anyone at all if they didnt do anything to me wrong

that shit seems mean

just tell someone if you done instead of toying with them and not being direct

well it's apparent, you won't see them probably EVER. so... I think the other part gets it as well

To protect yourself while hurting another's feelings, makes sense if you're selfish

but ghosting each other in some cases is the best way to avoid being hurt (on both sides). like imagine you WONT be able to see them probably ever again, and you have sort of feelings. but you are powerless, ghosting seems good choice here

But a decent goodbye is what everyone deserves
