Do you think Aaliyah would’ve been a huge deal if she was still alive?!?!

I think she would. She had an unique classy aura that made her stand out. Also she had good relationships with others so being featured on songs was no problem. She was versatile enough to do both fun dance tracks and had the vocals for big ballads.

wasn't she already iconic before she died?

No, she was a rising star. Her album actually wasn't doing that great before her death but had a second wind as a result of her death.

Yes, I think she would have had a lot of success. Especially in the mid 2000s when Timbaland was slaying the charts. Beyoncé would have also had a harder time at breaking out with the competition from Aaliyah, Britney and Christina.

Say It Right -

The Way I Are -

SexyBack -

Baby Girl would have slayed all of these.

I don't know, as someone who grew up in a non-English speaking country I knew about Beyoncé when I was a kid but I had never heard of Aaliyah until years later when some gossip youtube was talking about her in relation to RKelly(who was pretty well known when I was a kid).

Aaliyah was already dead when Beyoncé debuted as a soloist.

I knew her as part of the destiny's child, and the point is the same, Beyoncé was able to break through to reach international fame while I doubt anyone around me knew Aaliyah. I feel like if she was still alive, she would have probably been famous in the US but there are many celebrities who are famous there but virtually unknown internationally, so I doubt she would have been a huge deal on the level of Beyoncé.

You would have known about Aaliyah if she was still alive and working was LilVelvets point. She died years before Beyonce went solo, so of course there wasnt much talk by that point.

Tbh I don't think so. She was great for that time and like some else said people who were more than famous than Aaliyah at that time aren't even big anymore. You don't hear from Brandy, Mya, Monica, Toni Braxton, or any of those people. Also her voice wasn't that great and imo Beyonce would have taken her spot if not Rihanna.
