ArticleHan Ji Sung's husband is a lawyer, "I was drunk, but I don't know if my wife was" -> to be called in for more investigations

Source: TV Report via Nate

1. [+1,013, -12] How does he not know whether his wife drank or not, that's ridiculous

2. [+873, -24] Before the blackboxes were released, he originally said that he told her to stop the car because he had to go to the bathroom. Then after the blackboxes were released, he admitted to being drunk. His attitude changed before and after... You can see in the blackbox that Han Ji Sung got out of the car and was bent over behind it while her husband got out and ran towards the shoulder of the road. No matter how drunk he was, I feel like he could've stopped her from stopping the car in the middle of the road. Were they perhaps both drunk or on drugs?

3. [+705, -20] I think they were both drunk... I saw the video and it looked like the husband was drunk and had to pee while the wife was drunk and had to throw up.

4. [+52, -0] So they went out drinking together but he has no idea if his wife drank or not? Obviously he's a lawyer so he knows the ways to weasel out of this.. tsk tsk

5. [+50, -0] It's obvious she drank too if he's claiming he "doesn't know"... he would've just said she didn't if she really didn't ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+37, -0] He's a lawyer, he knows the law too well

7. [+37, -1] Just how drunk were they that he didn't even know that his wife stopped the car in the middle of the road?

8. [+34, -1] "I don't know" = She did drink. Sounds like they were both drunk when they stopped the car.

9. [+33, -3] He's a lawyer so I'm sure he's going to testify to his own benefit

10. [+31, -0] There's no way he didn't know if she drank or not. He just knows that if he tells the truth and says his wife was drunk, he'll get in legal trouble as well for letting her get behind the wheel. He has to say he doesn't know. There's no conspiracy, guys. They were both drunk and the husband realized that he'd get in big trouble if he admits that they were driving drunk.

Who was driving the car? Her or him? Maybe he was just trying to protect her from the comments he knew she would get for drunk driving and dying the way she did. I thought the worst of him when I first heard the news about the tragic accident and as the situation continued, I was more and more suspicious of him, but now that he admitted he drank, I am wondering if he maybe didn't want her family and the public to know she was drunk too.

Or he is still somehow trying to protect himself and I am projecting goodness on him, idk. The whole case is so sad and confusing.

Based on the photos from the accident, it seems more like they were both drunk and this happened, they most likely weren't thinking correctly if they were drunk... And maybe he lied so he wouldn't suffer the backlash from being drunk and maybe even so people wouldn't judge her either.

I feel bad for him, imagine your wife dying before your eyes in terrible circumstances and then having strangers attack you.

With that said let this be a lesson to never drink and drive (as seems to have been the case here).

especially in the korean society, he knows that this will hunt him for the rest of his life cause some people will always view him as the husband of the drunk driving wife including himself, he's trying to save their reputation to the very last. the problem is in their society the concept of shaming is quite big,.

i wonder how long the drinking effect lasted tho? i mean if he still can't remember correctly perhaps the police should do a drug test!

To me, based on the info we have now, what happened is that both were drunk, and he lied to cover their asses/reputation. Obviously if he had been thinking rationally he’d have realized there was no way to logically explain why they stopped in the middle lane of an express way without admitting that they were drunk so his lie fell apart pretty fast.

the bolded part! And tbh, people were "rip" but if they knew she was drunk they would be judge her "next time don't drive, be careful". And I also considered the drugs. Besides, I read he's a laywer so it won't look good if he gets a positive from drinks and drugs..

------------------------

Idk how people can think it was a set up.. How was he going to make her stop there, make her leave the car when she didnt even went after him and how would he know 2 cars would appear in that exact moment and kill her like that... It was 3am so the chances of having cars driving and kill someone aren't that big... Besides, you have to be out of your conscience to stop the car there and even to get out, even if you were have a fight with your husband..

Well I mean a drunk isn’t going to tell the truth or be coherent with what they remember.

The video makes sense. If both were drunk, the video sure aids that theory. She got out the driver seat and ran behind the car to puke and the husband ran off over the side of the road as she did before she got hit. It even makes more sense he’s lying if he wants to protect their names.

His wife driving while drunk isn’t a good look and the husband letting her is just as bad.

This comments sums it up well.

Doesn’t look like some bigger conspiracy or plot at all.

From documentary i watch many years ago of people passing out literally on the pavements, drama scene of bars hopping & bragging on ability to consume large amount of alcohol & the pressure of office worker particularly the young ones to keep up with the older during after hours. Korea & its attitude towards excessive drinking continues to baffle me. It was so accepted & normalised by many.

It was sad what has happened to her, but thankfully no any other innocent party was at least lost their life to the irresponsible act of two "drunks" (not proven yet, but thats the only logical way of explaining their bizarre behaviour)

you must not know shit about alcohol lol there's no need for drug tests. Depending on the people who drink some don't remember much of what they did while drunk, and you already know the effects the majority of people have when drunk, poor decision making etc. He more likely is trying to cover for her as its possible she drank too.

The problem is not so much that people drink IMO, but the fact that there is so much drunk driving happening. In my country I've seen a lot of prevention campaigns appealing to stop your drunk friends from driving, having designated drivers who stay sober... Don't they do this in Korea ? Enforcing drunk driving laws isn't enough, you need to make people internalise the fact that you don't drink and drive, and that if you see someone is drunk you should stop them from driving if you can - drunk people can't make wise decisions for themselves, so it has to be a collective responsibility.

nah I know people from real life who were drunk driving and when police investigated them more and dig deeper they found out that they were doing drugs as well which was the reason why they were desperately hiding, I wasn't saying they should do drug test I was just saying its a possibility and they can do a drug test if they wish cause why not!.
