The Blackest Night is one of my favs! Have you read Kingdom Come yet? Red Hood is one of my fav DC characters and I really liked the Red Hood and the Outlaws rebirth run (until- ok nvm im not spoiling). Also the Aquaman rebirth run is soooo good!! If you want something light hearted and fun, Gotham Academy volumes are a must :)

Lol Atom is basically the DC version of Antman

If marvel isn't going to do it, who's stopping DC?:hurr:

I just bought Kingdom Come the other day, haven't gotten around to reading it yet, the art in that comic is so fcking pretty though ~

I struggled through Batman bc King shat on my feels with that huge disappointment in issue #50 but it looks like the story will be picking up again soon, though I am liking King's Heroes In Crisis run though... I spent over $300 on comics last week bc of FCBD (RIP my savings)

I'm in the middle of Deathstroke Rebirth rn and that's amazing, I'll have to pick up Red Hood after I catch up with Deathstroke (I'm at #24 rn) A lot of DC's Anti-Heroes have some of my favourite comic series atm

My favourite ever comic run is Johnathan Hickman's Avengers run from 2012 to 2015.

It was a MASSIVE cosmic story that not only dealt with some very far out ideas and had long running story lines starting from his previous work on Fantastic 4 (another amazing run that I'd highly recommend as well), it also culminated in a huge event crossover like blackest night called Secret wars (not to be confused with the original Secret wars) which "rebooted" the marvel universe. Marvel hasn't reached those peaks since.

It was a couple years ago but DC's Dark Metal Universe event was pretty good too. A multiverse of evil Batman versions invading the normal multiverse, yes please.

I'm a bit on the fence about Marvel team comics rn bc of all the massive crossover events throughout the entire line of Marvel comics, whereas with DC, most of the even series that I've read (sans Blackest Night) usually only stick to a few titles, though I've heard great things about Hickman's Avengers, I'm reading the Brubaker run on Captain America rn (up to issue #50 so far) and I'm really liking that (mainly the Bucky Barnes run as Cap) as well as his Run on the Winter Soldier and that was great, I'm also waiting for my order of House of M to arrive (here's hoping that book is great). I'm also considering picking up Marvel's Thunderbolts (the 2016 iteration) just to see if I can get into team comics...

I've been meaning to read DC's Dark Metal bc Year of the Villain is starting and I wanted to read it just in case there are some references to that series (with Snyder having written both)

I'm a big fan of the Batfam so I would recommend Red Hood and the Outlaws (I prefer Rebirth over the first one but that's personal preference), and Grayson

Also Super Sons (the one from 2017) is adorable so I would check that one out too

Is Grayson the one where Dick's a spy for Spyral - I might just pick that one up, I read the first issue of Super Sons a while back - It was amazing, I didn't continue bc I was reading Captain America at the time... I've got Red Hood on my to buy list now (is the first series good as well, I'm considering buying both of them)

Vision and the No Series

Is that the Tom King Vision series???

yeah

Oh...cool, I'll put it on my list, I'm halfway through his Mister Miracle series, with is amazing btw (I like the way King writes about mental illnesses in his titles), I've put off getting it bc I've mainly stuck to DC/Vertigo titles for some reason (with only a few Marvel titles in between) though I'm trying to get into Marvel titles a bit more, but if it's the one I think it is, then it's a must read laugh.png

Yeah marvel sometimes have iffy events but I assure you Secret wars was awesome and so is Hickman's Avengers. House of M is a good one but the problem with that is all a different reality, so more of a what if story which means it doesn't stick around though it does have some big repercussions (reason why avengers disassemble for a few years).

I also recommend Jason Aaron's Thor, Matt Fraction Iron Man and JMS Spider-Man (current Spiderman is pretty good but only around a year so far).

I'm not as big a fan of DC as I am of marvel but I'm sure dark metal sets future stuff. There was some significant things in that happen during the event which allows for literally anything to happen. Currently in justice League there's a story involving a pervious universe and it's god as result of what happened in dark metal

Hope you enjoy Kingdom's Come! I love it. I also love the characters in that universe that aren't canon (like Mar'i Grayson).

King is a hit or miss for me, but more often miss. His dialogues for Batman's Rebirth run is so..... cringey half of the time but I still liked the run because it was building up to something I really wanted- until that indeed ended up being a huge disappointment lol (referring to what you mentioned but I don't want to accidentally spoil anyone). It's like they don't WANT Batman to move forward in their continuity. Been stuck in the same phase ever since, well, the beginning of Rebirth.

Trinity is pretty good too, btw! I haven't caught up to that one in a while but the first archs were great.

Also, like Gotham Academy, for something lighthearted and fun I also recommend Super Sons it's soooo cute. Damian and Jon on their little adventures.

Omg $300 is a lot. I read the comics weekly online and when the story archs or volumes are completed I buy them as hardcover books at the bookstore. Could neverrrrr buy them issue by issue, being a comic geek is an expensive hobby whew.

I love their anti-heroes, too! I have a lot of catching up to do with Deathstroke. I also want to start with Shazam! There's so much content every week it's hard to keep track with it but I'm not complaining hah. Btw, I know a reddit page that uploads the release schedule of comics. I could give you the link if you would like?

The only titles I'm buying issue to issue RN are Deathstroke, Heroes In Crisis, Chinese Superman and Shazam + a few older titles, I mainly blew my money on a shit ton of TPB titles, I'm trying to start Shazam as well, I loved the New 52 vol. And the New series sounds just as great too, that reddit page sounds awesome, I need a page that keeps track of release schedules, can you link it?

Loved New 52 Shazam as well! I also like him in the Justice League (I have mixed feeling on the entire N52 franchise but Shazam having such an apparent and relevant role was a plus).

Here's the page! Sorry I should've linked it right as I mentioned it haha https://www.reddit.com/r/DCcomics/comments/9ibcqx/the_dc_rebirth_schedule_30/

Sorry for the late reply.

Yep Grayson is the one where Dick is a spy. I personally think it's a good series that let's Dick Grayson be a hero still but is different from his normal superhero adventures.

Also the first Red Hood and the Outlaws is great and I would recommend picking it up if you can ;)
