Somi - Not joining
Sejeong (big win) - Chance to escape Gugudan, most spotlight without Somi, a solo release after 6 months will be another hit like Flower Way.
Mina (win) - Gugudan
Yoojung (win) - Weki Meki
Doyeon (win) - Weki Meki
Chaeyeon (win) - Can escape Dia
Nayoung (big win) - Jobless
Sohye (loss) - She's currently establishing her acting career so IOI promotion will be just like a military service.
Kyulkyung (loss) - Why would she come back to Korea?
Yeonjung (loss) - WJSN is a rising girl group so IOI promotion will risk in losing her position in WJSN.
Chungha (big big big loss) - This is like asking Son Heung Min to play for Jeonbuk to boost the reputation of K-League.

Pann: Win/loss for the members from IOI's reunion

1. [+197, -2] Everything aside, I agree that it's a loss for Chungha.

2. [+156, -0] I think it'll be a win for Sohye. If she promotes in IOI again, she'll get more attention which will bring more drama roles.

3. [+111, -2] Honestly, it'll be a win for everyone except Chungha and Sohye. It's a total win for Nayoung. If Kyulkyung wants to promote in Korea, it'll be a big win for her, too. It has to be a win for Yeonjung because Dia and WJSN are at the peak of their careers as a group. It's not like they have male fans like Girl's Day or AOA, they don't have digital sales like GFriend, nor they have a maniac fandom like Lovelyz. And isn't Somi unsure of debuting?

4. [+64, -0] Why is it a loss for Sohye? If she releases a song and gets attention, she'll earn money, get CF offers, and get cast in good dramas ã…‹ã…‹ Chungha could comeback in the group during her hiatus and do a concert. I agree about Yeonjung because she might lose her position in WJSN.

5. [+52, -0] I heard that Kyulkyung's popularity in China is bigger than Chungha's popularity in Korea. It's a bigger loss for her.

6. [+41, -0] Chungha's comparison ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ So funny.

7. [+39, -3] I think it'll be good for Chungha since she can build a different image. When she's a solo, her image is quite limited.

8. [+25, -0] It's a huge loss for Chungha. In IOI, she didn't have many parts and she didn't stand out much but she shined completely as she went solo.

Agreed on it being a loss for Yeonjung too, WJSN is now in the mid tier of ggs alongside OMG and LVLZ. Joining IOI can somehow help WJSN, more attention to them. But they are now stabilizing their career as a gg, not like the other post-IOI groups who just keep going downhill.

I'm sorry but if Chungha's management is smart about this they should not risk her rep and career build up just to put her back in the place she was 3 years ago, the whole point of ioi was to be a step up to their future careers not to be bound to it. It's not easy breaking out and making a name for yourself from a successful group (even more so when MNH was a nugu company), doing that would just be going 10 steps backwards. Why reunite just because the other companies dunno how to manage, promote and make the right decisions for their idols?

I don't think Yeonjung/WJSN is doing all that great. Their best known member hasn't even been there for like a year or more.

Since the start of early 2018 WJSN has more than doubled their album sales. They no average like 60k per album drop.

That's a big difference to barely 20k before.

...you do realize that this reunion has absolutely nothing to do with how the members are doing individually right? It’s a promise by the members of IOI themselves to perform together again 5 years later because they were shafted out of their time together. Now whether the companies support it is their business. Our girls have always been good friends throughout the years so spinning it like they’re doing this just for the popularity is disingenuous.

They can release a single to be promoted for a week and that's like a reunion song(like how APink releasing anniversary songs)....but I think it's better to release in October...nothing less nothing more and all members will win.

If somi isn't joining then there's no point. It should be all 11 members or nothing.

No point in pinky, sohye and Chungha halting their solo careers if Somi won't do the same

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they disbanded in January 2017? 5 years later would be 2022 no? the fact they are discussing this 3 years earlier is not just cause they miss each other, its still an awkward stage where everyone is still trying to establish their career (or debut in somi's case). If it was actually in 2022 they would just state that its for their promise, but even then trying to schedule 3 years in advance is a stretch as things can change.

There is nothing to spin, whats wrong with saying that Chungha should look out for herself as this reunion could just do more harm than good. She is establishing her solo career, reuniting a year or two (whatever they are aiming for) earlier than planned could just hinder that. They can still reunite without her just like how some members didn't join for whatta man, its just in my opinion I feel like it could be more of a loss for chungha.

It's not like this is gonna be a permanent thing

That she will completely stop being solo and just do I.O.I

Like she can easily join for 1 comeback and not let it affect anything at all really, besides having her there could also bring MORE attention to the groups reunion anyway

Why people act like this "reunion" is permanant?

They probably just release an album then do some activities and after that, go their own ways

Lol ia. This reunion will probably just last for 4 weeks maximum. They will comeback, hold a big concerts and then go back to their groups & solo

Yes that’s correct 2022 is what they planned for and if they did do it earlier a part of the reason is to help to reboot their careers, but it’s not “just†for popularity because they wanted to perform together again anyway. 5 years in that sense is an arbitrary number.

Moreover I want to note that the “comeback†is speculation. There is no official announcement. Chungha can do what she wants, but how would you know it would hinder her career when there is no info on when the reunion is, how long it’s going to be or really anything? Heck it could be for 1 concert or 1 comeback who knows. The way you’re talking about it makes it seem like she’s too good for the rest of the members now because she’s more popular and that it would actually hurt her career to participate in a reunion. That I don’t agree with.

Ultimately it’s her and MNH’s decision. I would support her either way tbh. However I’m not here for non-IOI fans to use this as an opportunity to dump on the group or its members.

The argument about whether this reunion will hurt or benefit Chungha is conflicting. Personally I would love for her to be in I.O.I again. She mentioned the feeling of being in a group several times and how she misses being around members. It would be an awkward timing tho because shes rising in this industry at the moment. Her recent comeback is the most successful from her tracks so far and shes having an official fanclub to build her own fandom. Her own growth as an artist is definitely MnH's goal atm
