Is Asian Rap Cultural Appropriation?

someone brought this discussion up on r/asianamerican, but I don't know if what they said about Rich Brian is correct or not (they claim he didn't receive backlash from the black community but I'm very skeptical of that claim) since I don't listen to him or follow hip hop/rap music in general:

There’s a difference between appreciation and appropriation. This conversation reminds me of Rich Brian, and of Awkwafina. Both Asians that have ties to hip-hop culture.

Rich Brian used to go by Rich Chigga and said the n-word in “Dat $tickâ€. But he didn’t receive backlash from the black community. There’s even a video of rappers praising his rap ability. I think it’s because of two things: he’s authentic, and he’s mindful. Rich Brian is not hood and he doesn’t try to be. He’s an ESL kid that raps about teenage issues. Rap is not a costume to him, but an art form. He raps to express his ideas, nothing more. He understands the culture behind rap, and apologized for the lyric and the name. He completely owns up to his ignorance and actively tries to do better. Not only is this appreciation, but this is also respect.

Now let’s talk about Awkwafina. She grew up in Forest Hills, which is 58% white. The black community talked about her and whether her roles were cultural appropriation. One thing a lot of people pointed out is that she puts on the blaccent when she’s playing comedic roles like Peik-Lin and Constance. And to me, it doesn’t sound authentic. Like she has definitely heard tons of AAVE, but doesn’t innately understand it. Kinda like how white people try to impersonate a black accent, like “yo yo yo they be trippin’ knahmean?†She then goes back to her 58% white Forest Hills speech when she’s done acting. So her hip-hop influence only really shows when she’s getting paid.
