I mean some of their post-golden Era songs are good. But they don't scream "mega national hit." Even with more advanced audio recording technology. I remember I found Flying Get and Kachuusha really annoying on first listen. Before they were released and became national hits. Catchy though. But Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai beats almost all the songs in this list imo. What many of AKB's earlier songs had is a more nostalgic yet positive upbeat style. Just look at a song like Iiwake Maybe. The instrumental for Bokutachi wa Tatakawanai is FANTASTIC but the song itself.............. leaves a lot to be desired It kind of just screams "FLOP" lmao (by AKB standards, ofc) But yes Ponytail to ShuShu and Kazefu are great. I kind of miss late 2008-2009 AKB. Namida Surprise + RIVER + 10 Nen Zakura + Oogoe Diamond + Iiwake Maybe were great. Their songs were starting to have a more "mainstream" feel but were still pretty niche at the same time. Didn't go for the 100% mainstream sound until Ponytail.
