RAVR 315
So we're in the living room. Mom was channel surfing then she comes across BBMA and it was BTS's performance. Brother suddenly "triggered" (he's not a KPop fan btw). He suddenly mocks BTS and the audience and keeps on saying "as if they understand what they are singing", "as if people understand what they are singing". I mean yes not all people may understand exactly what they are singing. But there are translations online. It even has official english subs on their official MV. But most importantly, to each their own. If people enjoy their music, let them be. Music has no language barriers. If you prefer not to listen to music with a language that you do not understand, it's okay. But to mock and make fun of people who do, it just screams asshole to me. What are your opinions on people who think like him?
puellarum generatio 3,628
Well, people have been listening to english speaking music for decades here even though no one understands shit lol

coval 9,036
As if the billions of people blasting Despacito knew what the lyrics mean. Music doesn't suddenly become inferior just because it's not in English. Tbh I don't want to call your brother a racist because I don't know him personally, but that's definitely a very racist mindset to have. Hope he matures soon. Bom 2,161
Like you said 'Music has no language barriers.' I think looking down on music that's not English is pretty shitty, but tbh the people who think like that are missing out on so much. I love music in any language, as long as it sounds good that's all that matters.
BlessMeAchoo 2,086
In a sense I think of the voice like an instrument, so for me the language a song is in or the lyrics aren't all that important. For some other people lyrics are important. Personally I think It's quite a closed minded thing to do to rule out all music that isn't in your own language. To each their own though I guess. Just Peachy 1,282
People like him are usually hypocrites, and I can't help but feel their close-mindedness is pretty discriminatory. Most of them will have no problem bopping along to Despacito or La Macarena and also expect non-English speakers to bop along to English hit songs, but for some reason when it's a song in an Asian language it's suddenly an issue. Chuuei 596
Life is so much easier when you don't give af on peoples opinions on purely subjective matters. That's also the best way to survive OH No matter what group they like, their faves are always the best, noone has ever done this before etc.. That obviously can't be true and for most part people argue about subjective things to begin with where there's by definition no absolute measure to say something's the best.
