Muslims of OH, I need your opinions

Kami the II.

Recommended Posts

As I'm taking my university enterance exams in June,  this is the last month I have for studying. But the thing is Ramadan is starting in a few days and I can't decide if I should be fasting or not. On one hand I'm scared that Allah won't help me with my exam if I don't fast, but on the other hand I feel like it's impossible to study efficiently when I'm starving. Originally I wanted to study through the night between iftar  & sahoor but I'll be getting only 3-4 hours of sleep in that case since I gotta go to school in the morning. Ottokke? Plz help me to decide, Kami chan is so confused...

Personally I truly believe that fasting should not be something that hinders your life and your personal succes. This could seriously be an issue if you need to study a lot and can simply not be an option.

My suggestion is that you fast what you can if you can, and whatever you do not fast you can make up for it afterwards. I did not fast while writing my thesis, I had one month to write 100 pages of research, and I worked at least 12 hours every day, it simply would not have been possible for me to fast.

I belive in a forgiving and benovelant Allah, and most importantly Allah never asks of you more than you can handle, and never asks that you hurt yourself, so this is how I choose to follow Islam and how I practice my fasting.

I have a similar issue. Ramadan coincides with the end of semester. I am also very badly addicted to caffeine so I wonder how that'll go. I'm chill not eating but its the no water and no coffee that gets me.

I'll just go with it and see where that takes me. I actually work better on an empty stomach than I do otherwise

well, i never really miss my fast & i never really study at home unless i have an assignment & if i have an exam i'll study literally D-1 just for that subject like the whole day (well, not really) it's work for me & my grade are almost all A(well, mostly A-).
i'm a strong believer of "if u listen to your teacher/prof at class  u don't really have to study at home "

well it might just coz i take computer science & i'm practically at my computer or at my bed with my laptop the whole time.

don't forced yourself to study instead change it into a hoby if u can & make it interisting instead of just reading book's & time will pass without u realizing it.

I personally would fast..only because i do believe that it is totally doable. I have taken exams during ramadhan before (and i did fast) & it went okay.

I'm not a muslim although i live in muslim country.

I guess it should be your own decision.

Cos anyone who gives you advice is gonna be resposible for their advice.

Thus one should be qualified enough to give you fatwah / advices related to this topic.

May be you should ask your parents? Or imams?

Sorry that I can't help you.

I think have to highlight that firstly--

ã…¡ã…¡ã…¡ã…¡ã…¡

I have to say that fasting is the pillar of Islam that you should never miss it

I'd like to think that it's more about you giving the idea that you can't do it while fasting instead?

Cause you did said that I feel like it's impossible to study efficiently when I'm starving. "

For me myself, I don't experience much problem fasting and studying very hard at the same time

I remember there are some papers that I managed to score well or if not better during Ramadhan

Thank you Allah for giving me strength to do well in both following Islam practice and in my studying :')

I'm sure He'll help you if you put enough faith and effort on Him

Anyway, maybe you should take fasting on day-by-day basis

We recite our "niat" or "intention" of fasting everyday too, don't we? ;')

Fast daily like usual and don't think too much on fasting could become your burden--

If you feel too much then maybe you can think of taking a break and re-do your fasting after your Eid and study period, but I think you can do better than this! ^^

You should remember Allah is the Most Merciful. He knows you well. He knows our limits ^^

Like the one I highlighted (thanks for pointing that out), He will never ask you to hurt yourself, nor give you tasks that you cannot handle-- And try to think about why Muslim travelers have numbers of ibadah loose?

Who knows, with His help, you can actually do fasting and studying without much of a hassle?

You can do this Kami :')

I will fast, because for me fasting will not hinder my study. But if u have maag/ulcer or something alike that make it difficult for u to fast and study, i think it's fine, to not fast and pay it later, rather that u collapse on the day of the test

I'm gonna be crude.

Maybe it's just me, maybe it's just the way I was raised, maybe it's just my Muslim majority surrounding. My eyebrows raised so high when I read the op. "Is this guy for real?" It's ramadhan, not some random sunnah ones. Fasting never stop me from moving and live my life. I've been in many exams and finals when I was fasting, and I felt no difference with when I wasn't.

But whatever op, the ball is yours. At least try to try, if you think you can't handle it anymore, break it. May Allah is always with us.

my mom always tells me that you can eat during exams (as long as you fast again once your exams are finished) so it's okay don't worry. but I fasted tbh and I still passed all my exams. so it depends on you. if you feel motivated then fast but if you know you're gonna mess up and you're the type of persons who easily gets weak then don't. you won't be the only muslim not fasting during exams.

good luck btw!

same but I believe it really depends on the person... I know some friends who couldn't focus AT ALL during exams when they were fasting so they ended up messing up.
