[endgame spoilers] thor's arc - did you like it or not?

a lot of people don't like fat thor in endgame and idk, I really liked it actually, probably one of my favorite aspects of the movie

- it was unrealistic and went against his character

thor blamed himself for half the universe being dusted, I think it's fair to say he'd be in a slump afterwards

- they only used it for comedic purposes

I don't think so? his conversations with rocket and then frigga were so beautiful, when he realized he was still worthy of mjolnir I almost cried, and the ending where he was still out of shape but facing off against thanos and his army anyways was badass af - he's finally breaking free of his depression

plus, I was happily surprised there was no "training montage" where he would instantly get back into shape lmao

not to say that there weren't any jokes at all, but I saw those as normal marvel jokes, nowhere near fatphobic, maybe it's just me hhfdjfg

- it ruined all his character development from ragnarok and infinity war

honestly, I think fat thor only added onto thor's character from ragnarok and IW - especially in IW, he was basically at his peak, and it would've been redundant and border-line mary sue if he stayed that way for another full movie

although, it is kind of weird that he decides to pass of the mantle of king to valkyrie after he finally gets ready to become a leader of his people in ragnarok

the one thing I didn't like is that they didn't bring up loki at all, but otherwise, thor was one of my favorite characters in endgame because of fat thor

did you guys like fat thor or no, and why? ohbi.png

THey don't like fat Thor because they just want to see regular stuff, weak. And overall I really enjoy his plot this time chuplz.png

i like it

thor has been great so far idk why everyone is complaining about

right? sjjgdfg like idk if there's something I'm missing but I didn't find fat thor offensive at all, I found maybe the first two minutes funny because of shock factor but I immediately just became sad and felt bad for him afterwards

Absolutely not. Thor's purpose is eye candy

lolol

Yes. Although his part was funny, I thought it was realistic? Everyone had difficulty with what happened. They all had their poison and Thor choose junk food and beer. I was surprised when I saw him but then it was understandable. He was in a midlife crisis.

I thought it was very interesting, and yes, I did like it. It added a 'human-ess' to his character with a realistic approach. I was actually surprised he remained scruffy, dirty, and overweight for the entire film. But I liked how it added onto Thor's depression and guilt after the 5 years because everyone handles hard times different & this was how Thor "coped" with his loss. He stopped caring about his image/body which is actually significant it self because he's not only a god, but was known to have a hot body by fans & the avenger team alike. Thus, he really did 'lose' everything he cared for philosophically and physically after Thanos.

Hated it. Didn’t enjoy them making a joke out of his trauma at almost every chance in a way they did t for any tiger character and didn’t enjoy all the fat jokes.

I don't remember there being that many jokes though mess, I thought it was just typical marvel humor

the only joke i remember is the frigga "and maybe eat a salad" sfgjdg

yeah and thor obviously had more difficulty than most - if he has just aimed about a foot higher he would've killed thanos and half the universe wouldn't have dusted

I don’t mind fat thor. I actually like Thor fat or not. However, I did dislike how the Russo brothers regressed him a bit. Don’t get me wrong they did good things too like showing how he has matured (not getting worried or fearful of cap using moljnir like he did back in AoU) but at the same time, having him pair up with guardians and leaving his people when what he always wanted to do was protect was a bit iffy, and bringing back moljnir for what? He didn’t really need it and I’m more inclined to believe they brought it so cap could get some spotlight. Hopefully with the rumors Thor 4, Taika has him leave them and he can go back to developing him. Also although I know the eye thing is logical in battling thanos, I liked the eyepatch.

me too, especially after they killed thanos and he said "... I went for the head" with this super dismayed and hollow tone of voice, for a second I thought that he would just run away and not even appear for the next half of the movie kdfkgdkfg

yeah the contrast between ragnarok-and-IW thor and endgame thor was amazing, he's pretty much known as the sexiest, almost-perfect avenger (especially in IW) so for them to make him an overweight alcoholic struggling with depression is really humanizing and great (and shows that even the best of us will stumble)

i didnt mind it but after all that idk how he couldve held mjolnir especially when he threatens children on fortnite

but the only character type thing i hated in that movie was steve's ending.. like wtf?

SFGDF LMAO RIP NOOBMASTER69

I guess mjolnir could sense that underneath everything he was still worthy? idk but it was really inspiring ahhhhhh one of my favorite scenes

and I actually liked steve's ending 508077974382182420.png?v=1508077974382182420.png?v=1maybe a topic for another day though

yeah him leaving asgard for the guardians was pretty questionable for me, after all he only knows groot and rocket remotely well, the other guardians are practically strangers

and yeah I'm pretty sure mjolnir was just for cap lmaoo, can't say I dislike it though

there were a couple others, like when rocket said he looked like melted ice cream

and well as someone who's not a very big fan of marvel humor a lot of the time, i didnt enjoy it here either lol, i honestly had not issue with the idea of thor gaining weight as a result of his depression and ptsd after IW  but it was handled in a way that I didn't particularly like at all.

i had no issue with it, enjoyed it actually

this was the best option to keep him interesting

ohh true I forgot about that one

you're right though, it definitely could've been better if they put less humor into it and focused more on the serious/sadder part of his depression

yeah i wouldnt have minded if it was just a bit of humor from thor's scenes, but it felt like the movie wanted you to laugh at him for most of the movie (which people in my theater did) instead of really taking his pain seriously like cap's, nat's and tony's.

perhaps they decided to go this route because we'll be seeing thor in future movies so they can further explore his character's loss and trauma later, but yeah regardless still wasn't a fan of how his character was handled.

Fat Thor was cool, what I didn't like was that they nerfed him so much. He took the force of a star in Infinity War, but could barely land a punch on Thanos in endgame.. that's not realistic. It feels like they did it to make Cap look good. But I don't think his story is over yet, he'll probably be in the next GOTG movie and I'm sure there's another Thor movie coming up. He better get his shine there, we still have some OP villains left

it was funny XD

After Ragnarok, I think marvel is going to take his character more comedic rather than the serious one like in thor 1 and 2.

That's why I'm not really surprised they did him like that in endgame, and he ends up being with the gotg crew. His onscreen tension with star lord is hilarious
