Despite needing a tough and chic look, Girl Crush groups also need to soften their image for the public. And as someone pointed out, it is such a minority of GGs with a full Girl Crush concept. 2ne1 had diverse content, and pretty much all of 4minute's songs sound like they are more than a year apart. The problem people have with cute and soft groups is that their music flat-lines a lot of times. The concept is fine, it would just be nice to see some spice. For example, cute groups are often inspired by J-pop groups, and very few J-pop groups see a true demand for a concept change. (Don't kill me, I know some do. It's just that their A-sides are usually different enough and so distinct) That being said, a fandom is a fandom. Fans are attracted to a group for what they are. As long as there are people who like the cute concept, there will be plenty of groups to love. It is a shame that they are dragged since, for one, they have fans who genuinely enjoy their content, and secondly, they contrast with girl crush groups so much. But honestly, not as much. The only group that I feel really did girl crush for a really long period of time was 2NE1. (maybe 4minute, f(x), etc?) But they had such a diverse discography that it would be hard to drag them for it. It’s quite funny because 99% of them only listen to title songs otherwise they would see many of those cutesy/bubbly groups delivers diversity on their b-sides (maybe even more than girl crush groups) and maybe when they cover other groups through performances. It’s a shame and sad realty. Besides, if girl crush groups changed their concept to something more elegant and cute, people would drop them fast so yah, who wants their group to fall apart?
