I first had a crush on someone when I was in kindergarten (lmao yes, for real) but the person I had a crush on middle school feels more like a first love to me.

In my opinion, a crush and love, even a weaker form, are separate things. Crushes are formed from distance while love is formed from connection.

I think a first love is the first person you have a real relationship with, whereas a crush is usually just infatuation and unrequited feelings towards someone. That's not to say that a crush can't develop into an actual relationship though.
