BTS: From the most hated boy band to the most loved one. [2013-2019]

Recommended Posts

2013: “WE WILL HATE YOU JUST BECAUSE OF YOUR NAMEâ€

No one believed in them, no one saw a future in them. But everyone had no shame insulting them.

2014: EVEN IF SOMEONE DISSES BTS, IT’S STILL BTS’ FAULT

When someone dissed RM in the past, people still said â€˜Well it’s BTS’ moment to ride on someone else’s fame’

   2015: â€œBTS ARE THE RUDEST OUT THERE. I REALLY DON’T LIKE THEMâ€

When BTS were loving and respecting of all artists. The public thought otherwise and called them names and accused them of things they have never done. Basically, it was a time where people just hated them for the sake of hating on them.

2015 was really not an easy year

2016: â€œTHEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF A DAESANG. THEY JUST STOLE IT FROM ANOTHER ARTISTâ€

Even when BTS showed them that all the accusations were wrong and reached higher enough to win a grand prize (Daesang) people said that they just stole it and to give it back. These boys suffered for years and even after a win, they have to suffer more.

2017: â€œWAIT WAIT WAIT!!! THEY ARE PRETTY COOL?â€

After billboard acknowledged BTS, and the American market showed interest in them. Korea started to warm up to them somehow. Why? because no matter how many times they were stabbed by their own country they never forgot their roots and said they will continue to be Korean singer.

2018: “BTS IS OUR PRIDE. KPOP HAS REVIVED THANKS TO THEMâ€

2018 is the year BTS achieved the unthinkable as a Korean artist. They broke barriers and records. And made their name well known everywhere. Somehow, they became their country’s pride.

   2019: â€œHOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THEM?â€

They just had a comeback and everyone is saying how good the songs are and how great BTS are. BTS wrote a song called â€˜HOME’ and gave it to ARMYs. Maybe if you are a new ARMY you will feel happy but if you are an old ARMY you will understand why we are their HOME. When even their own country made them homeless we were the only place they could turn to. And this is why BTS & ARMY have such a strong relationship. We have been through so much yet we never gave up. Why? because we believed in them and they swore to continue for us. They were our smiles when we had a harsh day and they smiled for us even if they had it harsher.

Lots of groups gets dragged for absolute bullshit, but it is interesting sometimes to go back in time a bit and check those witch-hunt posts, to let out a good laugh at how fucking stupid people can be and how things turned.

I don't think "hate" is the right term here

You don't accuse people of sajaegi and plagiarism just cause you don't like them, it's done out of hate. I mean you can say there were fans that felt threatened when bts suddenly sold albums better and took the first win on music shows so people were suspicious and accused them of sajaegi. But when you accuse them of plagiarism because of famous brand clothes and hair colour, you know that that's straight up hate.

---------------

Anyways, BTS and armys suffered a lot, i will never forget how my first time witnessing a comeback from them will have both happiness and sadness. At that time I regreted knowing korean and scrolling through pann.

But BTS survived through all this and look at them now!!

I will always side eye the korean public for always looking past bts and not seeing the gems that they have in their own country. Same with the media that always burried their acheivements. But BTS are not all about that, they showed that they can succeed with full support from the fandom and everybody else needs to catch up with us. Even though i know they still have a long way to be fully accepted by the korean public for what they are, with this comeback they made huge progress. It makes me happy as the audience that should first relate and support bts are finally doing that.

I just had all the war flashbacks cause of this thread...damn BTS really had it hard but they proved what they are capable of and show everyone that they are the best. They never gave up. I'm so proud of them ...

I couldn't read it till the end.

It still hurts.

But thank you for reminding us all of this. Cos people (even some Armys) just love to pretend that BTS got it easy, like overnight, and sweep all the hatred the boys got under the rug.

Because the title said "[2013 - 2019] from the most hated to the most loved" somehow to me it gives off impression that '2013 BTS' was the 'most hated' when thats not the case at all, not that many people hating on BTS during their early years (2013) lbr, more like a lot of people didn't know who they are or simply didn't care.

And all the hate you state above (sajaegi accusation etc) didn't happen during BTS early years but happened when BTS start to rise (2015-2016). So I don't think "the most hated" is the right term to describe the '2013 BTS' or 'early/young BTS'.

I remember hearing about BTS in 2015, and they were getting hate from some people for having a comeback on MAMA for 'Run'. I wasn't a fan then, but I remember thinking it was a stupid reason to be mad.

I'm glad they were able to find success and fans manage to endure the hard times ~ I loved HYYH pt.2, and here I am , stanning them years later smile.png

Tbh, the first time i saw them getting hate was when i saw Exo-L's comming after them for having a longer performance then Exo on MAMA i think. Tbh most of the hate and fanwars were between Exo-L and Army's. Before very loud Exo-L's came after everything that seemed like a threat to EXO and BTS was their main target to that time.

But it ended well for them and this GD quote fits so well.

Well then, i guess it can be "From nugus that were underestimated, to the most hated and then finally to the most loved"

But i can't really delete that "most hated part" cause i know too well.
