So..what did you guys think of the first episode of the new season of GOT? (May include spoilers so open at your own risk)

I thought it was okay. Considering that they only have 6 episodes to wrap up the show, it felt a little slow-paced, like they used too much times on rather unimportant stuff. But there were some scenes that I felt were genuinely really good. The scene with Dany and Sam broke my heart, poor Sam, but I’m excited to see what will happen between Bran and Jaime, if Bran will forgive him or something. Also, the Stark/Snow reunions were really nice.

i swear if they didn't tell jon the truth about his lineage by the end of the episode i was gonna scream.

also some of the lines had ME ROLLING

"I wanted those elephants." Cersei Lannister, 2019

"I'm gonna put a prince in your belly." ____ Greyjoy, 2019

"They do make a handsome couple." I FUCKING CHOKED

"I've always had blue eyes!" LOL

also the kid screaming at the end SCARED TF OUTTA ME

during the whole dragon riding scene, i was angry cause WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS NO MATTER HOW COOL IT WAS. Also, when the one dragon kept staring at Jon while he was kissing Daenerys I HOWLED. It's like the dragon knew and was like "bruh I would NOT be doing that if i were you..."

It's terrible that HBO doesn't air new ep the same time all over the world. It's air 1 hour earlier in US than my country and spoliers are all over the internet -_-

Btw, it's a good start. But the scene where Jon rides a dragon is too long.

I liked it, although some lines (dani and jon mostly) were cheesy af lmao. There were some iconic one liners that had me cracking up though

Things still seem like they're moving too fast, i liked the pacing better in earlier seasons tbh. I'd rather have more episodes and slower pacing.

The dragon riding scene felt a bit anticlimatic and sudden.

The scene with Jon and Sam about Jon's heritage was really good and satisfying imo and the one with Jaime and Bran staring each other down was a good cliffhanger to end on.

Overall pretty good, but it left a bit to be desired.

The fact that they started off the season with a dick joke.... I have no words. The dialogue this ep absolutely horrendous. The show highkey feels like a really high-budget soap opera now. All the Dany/Jon/Sansa drama serving telenovela realness.twitch.gif

The cinematography was beautiful though, and the CGI looks better than ever. I also appreciated the scene of Dany telling Sam that she grilled his family alive, because I was afraid they show would just try and brush it under the rug.

It was good

So many quotable lines even if it did feel a bit marvelly with the amount of one liners

But also far too much fanservice, the jon on a dragon scene was way too dragged out, for the months perfecting the cgi and all the money wasted on the effects they payoff was just "wow jon is on a dragon"

I'm also very much over the jon and dany ship. Their romance scenes were the most boring.

The dragon riding scene felt forced for me. I was expecting a bit of a build up. I know in reality we all know Jon is half Targaryen, so him riding a dragon only makes sense. But the way Danny was sort of just like "hey, just hop on!" to Jon without any skepticism at all was kind ?? to me. I mean, I know you don't have to be Targaryen blood to ride a dragon but 9/10 you typically are. Very few non-targaryens ever rode a dragon. I think there was like only one or so? Plus, before Jon she never really showed any hints that she figured anyone could or would be able to ride them despite how many guys she's been with or people she's close with (though that part I guess can be explained away by Jon is the only real special love to her so she was open to it).

Arya Jon reunion was also not as emotional for me as I thought it would be. I actually felt my heart tug more when Jon Bran reunited and Jon just grabbed him and kissed his head.

The pacing for me felt kind of off too. One minute Yara is rescued and the next Umber kid is on fire. I kind of lost track of what was happening at times, and from some scenes I wanted to be longer and others to be shorter.

The highlights for me:

1. Daeny confessing to Sam about killing his family.

2. The ride into Winterfell at the very start of the show

3. Umber kid being killed and set on fire.

4.  And most of all Sam telling Jon the truth about his parentage.

I was kind of underwhelmed. I saw people call it the season teaser lengthened to 50 minutes and that's not far off. They went through all the reunions and stuff so I'm really hoping more happens in the next 5 episodes.

ALSO WHY THE FUCK IS JON'S REAL NAME AEGON TARGARYEN?????? Raeghar already had a son named Aegon with his wife Elia........ is it really that fucking hard for the showrunners to come up with a new name? Or did Rhaegar literally name his kids Aegon1 and Aegon2 lmao

highlights for me were the dragons giving jon the "don't do that with your fucking AUNT" stare lmao. also jon getting clapped by arya for complaining about sansa was a BIG MOOD. anyway things i noticed:

-dany looked satisfied when people ran in fear from her dragons after being informed that "northerners don't like outsiders". like yeah we get it writers, dany prefers being feared over being trusted. don't beat us over the head or anything lol.

-sam's speech to jon about dany was foreshadowing, dany is going to be faced with having to sacrifice her crown to save the seven kingdoms. and i doubt she'll part with it willingly.

-also jon is Not Cool with fucking his aunt lmao

-idk if it means anything but i feel like the cut-off scene between jon and sansa could mean something. the missing scenes between arya/bran/sansa last season did anyway.

-cersei has officially lost it. also she was tearing up when euron left? yikes

-dany? is a master/conqueror. basically confirmed, low-tier antagonist for this last season.

-also bran being weird continues. still not convinced he's the night king though.

I mean it was good, i knew there wont be anything expectacular, but i don't know if Jon has the balls to tell Dany that he's a Targaryen, would of spect Brann to do it.

And Jaime was the old friend Brann was waiting for.

Btw ppl are crazy about GOT, all trending hashtags on twitter are about GOT

Yeah they always did this. The premiere is just set up and reintroductions I wish they just jumped right into the thick of it. I wanted to see more white walkers.

Dragon riding scene was disappointing. I wasn't expecting it to happen that fast especially without Jon knowing his true heritage.

I found the episode really slow and short considering we only have 5 episodes left now.

I did enjoy all the reunions though, especially Jamie and Brans.
