the truth about the "victim complex" in kpop

i've noticed an increasing trend of other fandoms saying armys have a "victim complex" or are "victimizing" themselves and i've been thinking for a while now, what does that ACTUALLY mean. So I read this article:

https://www.thoughtco.com/victim-complex-4160276

"In clinical psychology, a “victim complex†or “victim mentality†describes a personality trait of persons who believe they are constantly the victims of the harmful actions of others, even when made aware of evidence to the contrary.

...

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for people who have actually been victims of physically abusive or manipulative relationships to fall prey to a universal victim mentality."

---

its kind of funny to me because, nothing is as black and white as victim vs perpetrator in the online space we are currently inhabiting. the fact of the matter is, armys and bts DO get shit on. stating that fact isn't us stating we're victims, it isn't us trying to paint ourselves as victims when we're not. its simply stating the shit that has been done and said to us as a community and to bts. the naivete of kpop fans truly comes out when they brush aside our skepticism of the industry as if seungri and burning sun have taught us nothing about that dirty underbelly. there's so much people know and choose to ignore in favor of gas lighting others who smell fishiness. i mean, there are some fans in kpop that come off as "delusional" when they point fingers blindly, but you can't dismiss everyone because of those individuals

also i don't get this whole concept of "bts is the biggest kpop group of all time what do armys have to be mad about blah blah blah", another thing i've seen around a lot lately. people love to erase the years of mistreatment by the industry bts endured as well as the fact that their fans are also humans with feelings. i feel like only seeing idols as their success and fans as their fandoms are the most detrimental parts of kpop fandom culture. when we do that everything becomes surface level even though its not and the complex emotions of the millions of fans and thousands of idols out there become disregarded and overlooked.

just some food for thought. feel free to discus below and don't forget to stream boy with luv smile.png

Interesting. To add to what you've said, it seems that BTS/ARMY are the only ones that do not have antis that do purposefully stir up shit in order to make BTS and ARMY being hated rolleyes.gif

Every negative shit out there are started by "army" it can't be any one else. While every (old) army out there knows how much antis have done in the past but suddenly they've disappeared.

tbh as much as I appreciate the thread and your opinion that I share somewhat, I don't think it's worth debating over because kpop fans can't have peaceful debates and discussions. :(

Wow...people actually take kpop this seriously huh. I think everyone needs to get off the internet, go outside and breathe a little. There’s more to life than kpop.

I used to feel that way back when Army was always fighting with another bg fandom. Now I feel we've gone so far beyond that. Doesn't mean people can come at us sideways, but we don't have to worry about the intense fandom wars like before.

nobody's gaslighting anyone. and army's aren't the only group of fans who get told they're "playing victim"

it happens to blinks. it happens to onces. it happens to exols. it happens to reveluvs. it happened to sones. it happened to blackjacks. and so on. get a fucking grip.

Yall are pathetic, unless a thread is designed to insult and gaslight a particular group of people, yall would dismiss people's feelings and actively shut down discussion.

Idols and fans are humans. So why can't people have serious discussions here? So there's sections of a forum deligated to discussing possible plastic surgeries idols go through; speculating sexualities yet anything that involves feelings of fans get shut down instantly.
