Born in Taipei, Taiwan, he grew up in the United States and has a degree from the NYU's Stern School of Business. He also studied movie production at the Tisch School of Arts. He is also the son of a shipping tycoon. He shot to fame when his character showed up in the extremely popular romance-drama series, In Time with You (2011). For a while it almost seemed the attention from viewers and entertainment news was more focused on him than on the leading stars of the show. There continues to be a lot of curiosity about him because of his wealthy family background and his own notorious reputation as a ""Diva Killer"" for allegedly being able to easily attract female stars to succumb to his charm. His popularity quickly established him as a male lead in his subsequent dramas such as Once Upon A Love (2012) and Dragon Gate (2013). He has also appeared in music videos and commercials. Sunny has diverse interests aside from his acting career and has opened businesses in couture clothing and designer jewelry.
