Do you think sex ed teachers should have had to have sex before?

Nah, I don’t think it’s necessary. As long as they present and teach accurate information to the students, and are able to answer their questions, I don’t see how their personal experience is needed.

Yeah

It's like a man giving a menstruation talk.

Gets the job done but someone who has experience gets the job done better.

Yes actually, theory and practice are two different ballgames

But how does work with the variety of sexualities and sexual experiences or preferences.

A lesbian's experience with sex is going to be very different from a gay man and both of those are going to be very different from someone who has only experienced straight sex. The dynamics of those are all very different.

Edit: This also doesn't even touch on the experience of asexuals.

This is a pretty problematic comparison. Not even touching on the fact that menstruation = women is super inaccurate but women have a HUGE variety of experiences and every women's menstruation is different.

And the way people have sex is very different...

But having first hand experience is always helpful.

Obviously there's special cases such as trans men and women with amenorrhea but the vast 99% have had a period somewhere in their life and therefore would be able to give a first hand account. I really don't see how the comparison I made is problematic

But statements like "A man giving a menstruation talk" is erasure of men who have experienced menstruation (intentional or not)

And yes, the majority of women experience periods but that doesn't mean they can speak beyond their own personal experience. For example, a person who has endometriosis (1 in 10) is going to have an extremely different experience with their menstruation than someone who does not. Someone who has PCOS (again, 1 in 10) is going to have a different experience.

Anything with that level of variety prevents personal experiences from being applied to all people who experience it.

TL;DR A doctor doesn't need to have PCOS to diagnosis it in their patients. They just need to be educated on it.

there are actually a lot of women who have period but dont know shit about them. some still think you pee and get period from a same hole. so yes, a man could give better explanation on what is period than a woman

in both cases as long as you are educated you can talk about it.

everything else is just personal preference and how to pleasure your partner.

When I had sex ed in elementary and high school, the purpose of sex ed wasn't about technique, it was about how to have safe sex and understanding consent. I don't think it matters if the teacher has had sex at all.
