BTS's MOTS: Persona is a full-length album and not a mini?

BTS: MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA [April 12, Big Hit]

Inarguably the most famous Korean pop group in the world, BTS, will release a new full-length record this year. MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA follows last year’s LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’, which became the first Korean-language album to top the Billboard 200 chart in America. BTS are set to perform shows in the United States and Europe this year. Plus, they’ll make their “Saturday Night Live†debut in April. –Noah Yoo

Huh confusing, there are other places claiming an LP as well: https://www.axs.com/bts-announces-new-album-map-of-the-soul-persona-137306

Maybe ARMY just thought it was a mini because of their past releases?

^the info seems to be from bighit?

but if it's listed as EP to retailers why media would claim it to be LP? even if they got the track list which i doubt it's still a mini if BTS calls it a mini? idk

I think in a situation like this Retailer's have a better understanding of the product? It's easier for media to get their information wrong than it is for retail to confuse the products they're selling.

weeeird so I barely know Korean but the example at the one shop linked above does say "mini" in hangul. I just checked all the links from the BTS_Bighit official twitter and none of them including their Cafe Daum post say mini nor do any of the linked shops. Just "Album".

maybe no one knows and they're all just making it up! 0u0plz.pngBut the poster above about the retailers in Korea is probably right - the fact that is specifically says their 6th mini had to come from somewhere.

bighit should have posted directly to avoid these chinese whispers lol. the album is still in print so retailers and media know nothing but BH's words.

but yeah if it specifically says 6th mini i'm gonna expect an EP)

It makes sense for US publications to use terms their readers are familiar with. Never heard of mini albums until kpop. If it's like their previous mini albums I think this is less confusing to their readers than saying EP.

People who are already fans should refer to what Bighit says.

Apple Music/iTunes classifies anything with 7 or more tracks as an album even if it's under 25 minutes, and every BTS release since ORUL82 is at least 7 tracks and 30 minutes long. The usual Western concept of an EP is 4-6 tracks, 20-25 minutes long so I can see why publications are using the term LP.

Sounds reasonable :)
