Seungri gives interview denying illegal gambling and providing prostitution, says he was just ‘bluffing’ & got involved with wrong people

As Seungri continues to fall under increasing fire, with not only the media continuing to provide fuel but also his fellow group chat employees all admitting to wrongdoing, Seungri himself has now spoken to the media with his defense.

In an interview with Sisa Journal done through his lawyer Son Byung Ho, he denies allegations of prostitution for investors and overseas gambling, laments connections to tax evasion and police collusion, and describes everything the people have been reading as him joking and embellishing, basically.

During the interview, Seungri stated, “Didn’t all of these events begin with the conversations from the KakaoTalk [chatrooms]? Just as we wrote ‘police chief,’ we were just fools, just friends who were bluffing and showing off without knowing anything.â€

Okay, so even in his defense of the situation, Seungri’s side is that the chats may be real but that everything they were saying was just bullshitting for effect. Thanks a lot for all the hate mail and harassment for simply reporting what the Korean media was saying in terms of people confirming their authenticity. Sweet.

Anyway, he denies the prostitution services and overseas gambling while in the process of throwing himself a pity party over nobody believing him.

Seungri continued, “These things have caused a public opinion [that I’m involved in] tax evasion and police collusion. Honestly, I’m in a situation where even if I tell the truth, no one will believe it. Even the investigators believe that the contents of the KakaoTalk [chatrooms] are all true and considered evidence. [sigh] I’m afraid I won’t be judged fairly to be right or wrong due to the fact that I’m famous and a celebrity. Because I feel sorry to the people of Korea, aren’t I in a position where I can’t complain of the injustice or make rebuttals? Finally, to add one more thing, there was no overseas gambling, nor were there prostitution services.â€

So he’s saying that the police believe what was said in the chats are legit and not just them bluffing, and that it sucks nobody believes him that the stuff they were saying was just joking and bluffing.

Seungri then goes into detail about the chats produced by the Sisa Journal regarding allegedly setting up prostitution and gambling overseas.

Seungri stated, “When I said that I earned money during that time, or when I sent pictures of money, I was just bluffing and lying. I wanted to show off, so I said things that weren’t even true. ‘A’ didn’t even see me gamble, nor was he there with me. You can find this if you confirm it with the hotel.†Seungri also referred to the business partner as a “scammer.†The same day, Sisa Journal met with Seungri’s lawyer Son Byung Ho. The lawyer explained “A†and Seungri’s conversation from 2014 alluding to prostitution. The two had discussed which woman they should bring to their trip to Indonesia, and Seungri also presented photos and information about the ages, jobs, and personalities of various women, asking his business partner to choose a woman. Lawyer Son Byung Ho explained that “A†had requested Seungri to introduce him to a woman who could accompany him to Indonesia as if she were his wife or girlfriend. He added that “A†had eventually gone to Indonesia with Seungri without any women accompanying them.

Seungri’s legal representative, Lawyer Son stated, “
CEO Kim went to Indonesia with Seungri as just the two of them without any women. The message and photo about winning money was just a lie to bluff and brag. He was dragged around by CEO Kim for almost 2 years in efforts to get back the 2 billion won he invested in him.
†Regarding the allegations that he solicited prostitution, Seungri’s lawyer denied them by stating, “
All he did was introduce women to his acquaintances. There was no solicitation of prostitution.
“

Seems relevant to point out that at the start he addresses the chats SBS reported on, mentioning the police chief stuff and talking about how that was a bluff, lamenting that people are taking them serious. But the other chat addressed that they get specific on is the ones reported by the Sisa Journal, so there’s a broad denial but the specifics are about the follow-up accusations.

Also not sure if the whole “I was bluffing and lying then but you can believe me now†angle is all that great anyway.

Then came the crux of his defense.

Sisa Journal then added that Seungri had sent a message that said, “I was in the wrong. I shouldn’t have gotten involved with those guys and done those things.â€

It’s basically setting himself up as a victim for anybody who believes this angle. Saying he was wrong for being there and associating with bad people but that he himself didn’t intend to do any bad things. It is literally an oppa didn’t mean it defense.

As discussed before, the legal case against him is much harder to make than what has been confirmed as the morally appalling things that have been done/said. Seungri’s plan is apparently to play into that and hoping things don’t come crashing down at some later point.

I think some parts of the interview is true especially that part where he said he got scammed for 2 billon won. I remember clearly on 2016 he filed a lawsuit against a female singer but few days after that he dropped the lawsuit.

Here is the article in soompi https://www.soompi.com/article/806221wpp/bigbangs-seungri-files-lawsuit-against-female-singer-for-investment-fraud

i'm so disgusted that i'm encountering thousands of fans defending him on social media, acting like seungri is their poor little baby. i really hate it and i want him to go to prison to bring justice to anyone harmed by his actions and to serve as a wake-up call for celebrities and fans alike.

Lol. Seungri, your fans are going around telling ppl the chat is fake and unconfirmed. Thanks for confirming. What kind of trash ppl you have to want to brag about things like this? Shows what kind of person you are. Excuses after excuses. From fake -> I don't remember->I got tricked ->real-> bragging.
