and especially African-American women

I've been watching videos from this channel called grapevine, where an all black panel of all different backgrounds have debates on well, being black. I recently watch this one about interracial dating within the black community and I was very surprised to learn that a lot of African American women want to marry black men to have black children because they are and I quote "pro-black".

I was taken aback by this to say the least because as an African woman I've always been encourage to date outside my race and keeping the "blackness" in my lineage has never been a priority, it was always about finding a good man. I just don't understand why you would keep yourself from getting in a relationship with someone just because they aren't black like. Isn't kind of reminiscent of slavery when black people and white people were denied relationships. Also why do it when African American men don't even bother. Like

I'm actually very very curious to hear what real people out there have to say so please do tell me

also queer black women what do y'all think

Skin color is one of the least relevant  things in someone to me so I have trouble relating to these kind of concerns, (Although they surprisingly seem to be prominent within a lot of communities, seeing the frequency of these kinds of threads in here).

It just sounds like such an non issue to me.

because in the video they talk mostly about the African American community

the overall channel is more about African American folks

I've watched random clips from this YouTube channel and I'm pretty sure they have a video of African Americans themselves talking about interracial relationships, wouldn't that video have been a better starting point if you wanted to focus on that group?

Exactly that is why it was so shocking to me and it's not the first time I hear black women saying stuff like this

it never fails to shock me because it's something I expect to hear from like old conservative people but not from fairly young black women (especially) like it sounds so out dated and old fashion and the fact that these women are seriously considering it, is like a mystery I don't understand it almost makes me feel bad for considering interracial relationships

I've been wondering for days now if this is really a thing

I understand the sentiment when you want to preserve your cultural heritage as a minority group in society. You might consider it judgemental but I know enough people who want to marry someone of their own ethnicity because of shared heritage.

do they? if so link it to me and I'll edit OP

but once again in this panel the discussion tend to focus around America and the people who said they would rather date within their race said that in regards of the current American political climate and the fact Latinos being a lager community in the US give them more leverage politically speaking

I personally don't care and have no problem dating outside my race. Even more so since there's becoming less and less marriage material black men checking for black women since they have already been going outside the race too. Open it up to all and get more candidates in the pool to choose from.

And My parents wouldn't care either. When I showed my mom a photo of a tattooed up white guy I was into, she didn't seem to care. My other family members, IDK how they would feel since I don't really talk to them.

I think this is part of the reason, and maybe also feeling like non-black men won't understand black women, and living in this country as someone black, as well as a black man would. That's my guess anyways.

On my mom's side they will probably be a little judgemental if i date outside of my race, however my dad's side wont care. All my uncles and even dad have dated women outside of their race more than dating inside, my uncle two years ago got married to a black woman tho (which surprised my fam bc he usually the one to go for latinas).

I get why some do want to preserve, but personally i dont whole heartedly care
