I dated this white guy and my friends weren't against it but like they would say slick comments saying white people stink and how they don't take showers. I didn't know how to respond because my bf at that time was white. My friend also said, "out of the good looking guys, you chose a white person." Has anyone experienced this?

Also, it was also wired that my bf (at that time) would ask why I chose him when I told him I liked him smh

Yea I have. I had to stop seeing this one hair stylist because she was so racist. She would insist that she wasn't but never had anything nice to say about white or Asian people. My own family would insist they were not racist but didn't approve of my now husband who is white. They are so hypocritical. They are colorist as hell and praised me for being so pretty and light skinned only to be mad that I didn't choose an unambiguously black guy as a mate. (Most of the guys I dated were light skinned or non-black. The one dark skinned guy I dated people called ugly. Go figure.) Just wanted to add, I have zero preference for race or skin tone. I love who I love regardless. Tell my family that and I face criticism. That's why I cut them off.

Yes, my family is very problack and if i ever brought home a white or Asian guy theyd ask why couldn't i find a black man. I feel like Hispanic would be ok but idk they gossip so much.

Even with some of my cousins who have black but very light spouses they will talk extreme shit behind their backs

just curious, what's your race?

anyways, you should ignore those type of people, some of my family members are  super conservative, they are even against me dating someone with different ethnicity, let alone the race. Funny thing is that, I do not find girls from my country attractive enough, not because of looks ,they are pretty, but I just can't vibe with them and since I grew up with them I do not find them rare/exotic

these days i feel like people honestly judge too much just because of skin color??

there is no one "label" for a certain race. maybe you met someone of that race that seems super mean but that wouldn't necessarily be the same for the next person. it's honestly so immature. a race doesn't and can't define everyone. you can't slap a label onto someone just because of the pigmentation of their skin.

I didn't date someone outside of my race but I had a very close friend who would always call my bf(at that time) "dumb", "retard" , "try hard" etc . So I just cut her off .

You're not a real friend if you don't respect your friend's relationship
