tide 14,243 Posted March 18, 2019 Share Posted March 18, 2019 on one hand, there's no reason to actually believe they did any of those things. anyone on the internet in the early/mid 00s knows that edgy and inhumane was the social currency. even for 'kid friendly' youtubers, rape jokes, racist jokes, sexist, and homophobic jokes were unfortunately the norm. on the other hand, it's not like someone forced them to say those things, and if any of these old youtubers are seeking a new prosperous future, they must come to head with their less than stellar past. shane has been an internet personality for...10+ years now? he should know how this works. before he fully transitioned into his new brand, he should have made some concrete statements about his previous...persona and the things he said back then. it wasn't like he was a kid when he said these things, so obviously people will put actual weight to his words. tldr - shane didnt actually fuck his cat. but with his new persona relying so much on sincerity in statement and action, what does he expect people to believe?
